The snake performance is unknown and irrelevant outside North America, it wasn't global like the Meat Dress, Miley's 2013 performance, Nipplegate, etc

Britney was never that big in the UK (I think she never had a #1 album there or something like that), but her VMA snake performance was definitely iconic.
Plus the VMAs used to include all types of genres at the time, it was such an event
The internet & social media ruined this type of events (we have much more advantages now though, so I'm not complaining).
