I've never watched X-Factor before - what does a mentor do? Do they have a recurring role on the show or is it just like a 1 or 2 episode thing?

1 or 2 shows. They just judge contestants who sing in front of the Judge and guest (in this case K$) and after hearing them all they help the Judge pick a number of people to go through to the live shows.

I live in Australia and I watch the show...
Here's what I know so far. The promos are constantly being shown on TV here. There is a new one almost every week showing a different contestant. Last year's series started at the end of August with the auditions airing, where the same looks likely for this season. The judge's houses stage which Ke$ha will be a part of will probably air in mid-September. The judge's houses stage also takes place all around the world, so LA is most likely.
