It's actually very common for scenes in trailers to be cut in the final film. Trailers come out 6 months before release sometimes and films aren't usually totally done editing and post production until a couple months before release. We have absolutely no idea if it's because the scene didn't test well or if it's because they simply took it out due to runtime concerns or for whatever other reason. The Joker got half of his scenes axed in Suicide Squad, is it because no one likes the Joker? Of course not. Speculation is simply baseless stan ramblings.

At any rate, the Britney/Madonna kiss was a bonafide media event when it happened and is remembered, as is the 2007 VMAs performance which got an entire South Park episode dedicated to it. Godney her iconic performances are like a hydra, take one down, two more pop up.
