Listen, I'm not saying female rappers need to put themselves in a box. They can do mainstream/more universal kind of songs while still sticking to their roots. Missy has done it a few times, as has Eve. Let Me Blow Your Mind while still amainstream smash, still had a very Urban sound. Same with Lose Control etc.

I'm just not here for acting like songs that sound like Katy Perry's Roar, and Hollaback Girl are *breaking barriers for rap music* because Macklemore teas.

Yea but none the less it was a pop song and not a hardcore hip hop song.. I thing missy is the only rapper that didn't need to go pop to score a crossover hit .!!

To be fair, urban music was a lot more acceptable back then than it is now.

But "Fancy" is just a pop song through and through. I'd be more convinced if "Work" becomes a hit.
