Wait a damn minute, now I bopped to PCD and thought they had cute voices but wtf.
I just stumbled onto Nicole singing Phantom of the Opera; what the hell? I didn't know she could blow like that.
Does she showcase this on her solo records? As far as her solo stuff I likes that song produced by Polow a few years back, that's all I know.
Mess, why is she not booking performances left and right sounding like that?
She showcases that mainly in stand-alone performances like Phantom, Don't Cry for Me Argentina.
In her solo career she just has AmenJena, Run and Casualty who are somewhat vocally.
You might enjoy this collabo she did with David Garrett

Does she have bops tho? Should I check out her albums?
I just did some research on her and she's working with Raphael Saadiq?? He is a genius; if he's working with her she must be even more amazing than I thought.

Her debut Killer Love has some RedOne produced pop bops and the Rihanna-esque Right There and Wet. Her 2nd album BFL is more a love it or hate it record produced by The Dream and Tricky Stewart.

23 minutes of some of Nicole's best vocal performances throughout the years.
Yes, she does have some great music. Check out Power's Out, Don't Hold Your Breath, Run, Your Love, Whatever U Like, Baby Love, Amenjena, Say Yes, First Time, Bang.
the Grammy's are gone, but one can still wish for an Oscar performance? Gaga did Sound Of Music last year so why not Nicole performing Memory?
'The Sound of Music' is an Oscar-award winning film whose 50th anniversary was last year. "Memory" wouldn't be appropriate, as there isn't a 'CATS' film yet, and the Oscars celebrate film.

I would give recommendations, and perhaps, I am slightly biased, but both of her solo albums are worth listening to in their entirety, with "Killer Love" being more dance-oriented and "Big Fat Lie" having more urban influences. Some songs that haven't made it onto any Nicole/PCD albums that are also worth listening to include "Psycho", "Whatever Happens", "Wild Child", "Get 'Em Ready" (not sure as to whether or not these 4 tracks are on YouTube, but they are somewhere on the Internet).

Nicole showcased her vocals in PCD (and Eden's Crush) too. Songs like "Hush Hush; Hush Hush" require a really competent singer. It's just that their image took precedence over Nicole's vocal ability in the eyes of the public. No one think talent when they see a woman showing so much skin. Unfortunately that's something Nicole hasn't really shaken off along with the false perception that she was a bully who stole the spotlight (in reality, she was specifically hired to be PCD's vocalist along with Melody as a backup vocalist). To be successful and get opportunities, you need a lot of people to like you and relate to you. That's never happened for Nicole.
In any case, Killer Love was a good pop/dance album. Like a lot of other people have have said, it's basically a third PCD album with 2010-11 era pop songs from Stargate, RedOne, Jim Jonsin, etc. and a lot of ballads written by Nicole.
"Don't Hold Your Breath" was #1 UK hit and "Right There" was a #3 UK hit (the version without 50 is better because they had to cut the intro and outro to accommodate him):
She's back to looking rough in these recent pictures at the NYFW. How can she look incredible last week in Austria and a bit of a mess this week? Whoever does her make up and hair now is not that great

I thought I was the only one that love "Power's Out (feat. Sting)." When Killer Love came out everyone hated that song but I loved it, it's like the prototype Run. "The world is just a supersized merry-go-round, sometimes your fingers lose their grip and we all fall down..."

I ADORE Power's Out. I haven't listened to that song in such a long time, but i played it a few days ago and it still sounds great. I think it's the perfect duet.Their voices sound amazing together, love the harmonies, i love the mid-tempo beat. I never really gave that much attention to it, but i think now it's one of my favorite Nicole songs.
I was wondering... will we EVER get the studio version of Pretty?
At this point, I highly doubt it. I even doubt we ever get Just Say Yes, even though it was on several trading lists between 2007 - 2009. Only One More Shot and maybe some other outtakes we dont know off could ever leak
Don't know why, but I enjoy Poison as a lead single better than Your Love.. Although its generic, her vocals are distinctive. Like Priyanka said, she has this Cruella raspy tone that's weird.

If we don't get it by this upcoming album, then there's no chance...

Poison is just a straight forward song, it is catchy, because it has a more traditional pop hook, similair to other RedOne tracks like a Bad Romance or JLO's Papi.
Your Love really relies on the " Dudududududu" That is also one of the reasons why I find Poison a better leadsingle
But yeah you are right she also sounds more distinctive on Poison, and most of KL.
The "Cruella raspy" voice you guys are talking about is a style of singing Nicole uses in some of her songs, it's to make them sound more "edgy," it's reminiscent of rock music (à la Queen and Led Zeppelin). Speaking of which, when will Nicole's full cover of Led Zeppelin's Black Dog ever come out? She mentioned it last year that she still had to release it, whatever happened to that.

she didn't recorded the full cover of Black Dog. only part for the NBA commercial
I like her "Cruella raspy" voice too. It's very distinct. She can do a soft, girly voice like in "Happily Never After," but it's too simple:
Speaking of this performance, she sounds even better live than in the actual studio track.

The "dudududu" is such lazy writing. If that part were different I think it would have been a better song.
