Dinkin is cofounder of FanBridge, a five-year-old startup that helps brands manage their fans across the socialsphere. His 30-person, occasionally profitable company has an impressive roster of clients. It is the trusted social media and email management platform for more than 100,000 brands, many of which are A-list celebrities and musicians.
Within two weeks of launching, the singer Imogen Heap became a FanBridge user. This past February, Dinkin and his team landed the ultimate celebrity, Lady Gaga.
"That was the day when I really thought, 'Wow, we're doing something special," recalls cofounder Spencer Richardson.
"We were notified by Interscope Records shortly before that Lady Gaga would be using FanBridge," says Dinkin. "They try to give people at least a little bit of warning before Lady Gaga uses a service because she crashes everything. Last week she crashed Amazon."
To prepare for the singer and her 30 million fans, Dinkin and Richardson pulled an all nighter and had an all hands on deck staff approach.
"Within seconds of Lady Gaga blasting out her promotion on FanBridge we had hundreds of thousands of users hitting the site," Richardson says.
