Eh, after 4 straight seasons she was repeating herself and getting kind of stale. Freakshow definitely felt like she was bored and going through the motions for most of it since she'd already played the same archetype 3 seasons in a row. They needed to shake things up.

I hated Jessica in Freak Show. She delivered a great performance but nothing special,and her character was simply dull

Even though Ryan said Sally is a ghost, I do think there will be more to how Sally is still roaming. I do like the idea of Gaga being able to resurrect. I mean, there's got to be a reason she's hundreds of years old. With that being said, anything of those sorts won't be revealed until mid-season. Sarah said she hadn't filmed anything with Gaga yet at the premiere and they were up to episode 7 by then. I do think they'll cross paths. Did Ryan ever explain what the bite mark looking marks were on Sally's neck?

Critics look for different things than the average viewer. I can see why the review got mixed reviews because critics are also impatient, but I wouldn't say they are idiots. They're looking for different elements. Personally I enjoyed the pacing..they didn't bring out all the big guns in one episode. It's actually nice. Another note, it is refreshing that Jessica is not the lead head bitch. She played the same role for four seasons. Seeing someone else's take is a nice change of pace. Once Gaga grows into her role it'll be even better!

Anyway, I really enjoyed the premiere. I too am confused about where this will take us, more so than the other four premieres, but I'm hoping that's because the plot and storyline are complex--and not because then season will be a mess like FS. It certainly has a lot of potential

I don't think it's The Countess who resurrected Sally, but Matt. I just don't see why The Countess would do that. And considering we know Sarah & Gaga haven't shot anything together yet, they're probably not close at all in the show.

But it depends if once you've been resurrected, you can resurrect other people, too.

sally seems to be very sexual and sometimes when you make out you get hickies or bite marks.

Also, i doubt Matt was resurrected, in the new interview Ryan said he was comatosed, which means he was still alive.

That was a huge letdown. Random murders in a hotel with not a single explanation. Of course not everything has to be explained on the 1st episode but the previous season was a mess and everyone admits it, so in this 1st episode they had to give something more that could keep the interest for the 2nd episode. We are not in 2000. It's so stale to use the whole 1st episode just to introduce the characters.

Some glimpses of the plot they gave us on the last 10-15 minutes, are showing that the story-line is gonna be freaking basic!!! I think this has to be the last season of AHS because their imagination is over.
I really wish I change my mind after the 3rd-4th episode.

Can't say many things on Gaga's acting. She was decent but we have to see more. Her scenes should be bigger since she is the person the promo is based on. If it wasn't for Gaga, I would stop seeing this season here.

That's funny, because Jessica Lange herself stated that FS was the most fun to shoot, and had the best time doing that character. So, I guess it was just us, the audience, who were bored of seeing her on the show. It's all RM fault, of course, he didn't give her a lot to work with dramatically during seasons 3 & 4. I miss her. She's a fantastic actress.

Yes I am getting MH and I love it. But I'm getting an 80s vibe too...A bit like The Lost Boys (I loove that movie). If Ryan sticks to this then I think this could rival Asylum. Please Ryan, I beg of you, be consistent. He's always such a mess.
