It's like a puzzle. You are going to need the other 12 parts, otherwise you have only 1/13th of it - that's NOTHING.

This is all well and true, however, this is the first premiere in the history of the show that doesn't end with a strong enough cliffhanger to keep you guessing. It just kind of threw a bunch of random plot points at you. And knowing Ryan Murphy's history, he probably isn't that sure what he'll do by the end of the season himself.

But you can't have a plot in 1/13th of a story.
Critics are idiots, let's not. They think FS is the best season I mean And again they are not professionals either.
I am sorry, I Know I always do that But really tho, they showed us that Gaga has a plan (she already knew about Will Drake etc.) and we know that some killings are happening (Wes Bentley) and we have different story arcs.
We have the whole Hotel and everything that is happening there, we don't know what that is yet - but that's clearly a beginning of a plot. We have Wes and his family. We don't know who Gaga is yet etc.
That's the point of it
And if you think that "Who gets the iron throne" is called a plot, then bye... It's a PREMISE not a plot. Y'all are uneducated and that's fine, so I will just leave you arguing with the wrong termins. You don't know GoT's full plot yet, because the plot is the whole story

"What's the show about": Murders in a hotel.
"Where is it going": I don't really know.
Idk, that's also why critics gave the show mixed review. It felt like it didn't go anywhere
|
That's not true, you would know that
The detective is investigating murders revolving around the 10 commandments, he feels like he's being targeted so he moves into the hotel to protect his family. It just so happens that the hotel he is moving to is where is kidnapped child is being held. Whether he's dead or alive, I don't know, but his dad seems drawn to him.
The hotel is home to a group of "people"? that are murdering those who check-in, obviously there is something supernatural as Kathy Bates lost her son to a drug overdose as well pushing the other woman out of the window.
Lady Gaga seems to be able to "bring dead back", and she seems sort of vampire like.
There is plenty to go on, and obviously more questions will be answered as the show progresses. They don't spill it all up front, no one will finish.

I personally adored Freakshow. Yeah it was messy, but it was a good season overall. I also understand what you're trying to say, that you can't have the whole plot in one episode. That's not what we're saying.
I just don't know where the show's going, which is what pisses me off. I'm sure it'll get better with time, but yeah. The 1st episode just seems... I don't even know.

I need XO to come and explain y'all, I am sure he will understand what I mean I am never good in explaining things, but just because y'all don't know WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT, doesn't mean there is no plot

Please go back and read the end of my post, I edited.
What you mean is that you don't know the Premise of this season.
Because a plot is:
Quote:
|
Plot refers to the sequence of events inside a story which affect other events through the principle of cause and effect. The causal events of a plot can be thought of as a series of sentences linked by "and so." Plots can vary from simple structures such as in a traditional ballad to complex interwoven structures sometimes referred to as an imbroglio. The term plot can serve as a verb and refer to a character planning future actions in the story.
|
What you guys are looking for is premise / synopsis.
But then again, if they spill everything in episode 1, they might as well end the series in episode 2.

Critics look for different things than the average viewer. I can see why the review got mixed reviews because critics are also impatient, but I wouldn't say they are idiots. They're looking for different elements. Personally I enjoyed the pacing..they didn't bring out all the big guns in one episode. It's actually nice. I agree with you that it is obvious they were setting seeds.
Another note, it is refreshing that Jessica is not the lead head bitch. She played the same role for four seasons. Seeing someone else's take is a nice change of pace. Once Gaga grows into her role it'll be even better!

I really didn't like Freakshow, it was the weakest season in my opinion, maybe we just like different things.

I don't think it's the addiction demon, it's just a random monster, the addiction demon is a metaphor.

well the addiction demon is a metaphor for addiction as a monster, so its the demon and not some random monster

It seems like there are ghosts, similar to the ones in Murder House. Not sure though. We need more details from the next episodes

Mariano is right Some of you are acting as if everything needs to be told in the first episode. If you ask anyone the first episode mainly serves to set the mood of the season. Which this did, brilliantly.
