I honestly think Jon went to Dragonstone to ask Dany for help because she's the only one that can help the realm with the white walkers business. At this point, I think Dany has conquered Westeros and put an end to Cersei's reign. Dragonstone is her main seat, plus she was born there.

It feels like it's being shoehorned in... It will probably come across better in the books since we get into the characters' heads better in that format, but I'll just have a hard time finding a "love" story between the two credible, especially with 7(?) episodes remaining this season, factoring in the time that will be spent on changing POVs ie: Sansa/LF, Bran, Arya, Melisandre, Gendry? , Cersei, Euron, and any other NK/WW scenes... I'd find a political marriage/alliance of necessity much more believable.

I think a big problem is that they spent too long apart, and gained two VERY distinct fanbases who often dislike the other: Daenerys is VERY loved by the gays of ATRL, while Jon always gets dragged on this site. Straight boy reddit tends to love Jon, while Daenerys gets... Mixed reviews, from what I've seen. I personally casually like Jon, and Daenerys is my second least fave of the remaining characters (though well ahead of Cersei)

I don't read fan fiction, so I have no idea if there's fan fiction stories about aunts and nephews hooking up.

But anyway, like you said, they're being "forced" into a relationship. It most likely an arranged marriage and not a love story. (if it does indeed happen, we don't know for sure yet) That makes perfect sense in the world that was crafted by GRRM and the showrunners.

Dany wants to rule Westeros, but is more focussed on the south. Jon is ruling the North and is more focussed on the battle up North. They're the strongest players in Westeros and instead of a war it would be far more beneficial to both them and the kingdoms if they united and fought the white walkers together.

This is unless the story throws a curveball and makes them enemies instead and one of them dies, leaving the other to rule with half his original army. But that seems very unrealistic and strategically stupid.
