I think everyone might find this interesting! This is a table of everyone's scores and averages thus far! They're in order from highest overall average to lowest overall average.
If you're not as high up as you want to be, I wouldn't be discouraged. Last season it was the finalist with the lowest average that took the crown.
EDIT: Also, for anyone who wants an ACCURATE average, tell me what your first-round score is if it isn't listed. That was the week Nait kept them undisclosed.

To Tymps: thanks for those averages, but I wouldn't count the first round average at all…
To everyone else: to keep this thread a little active, why don't you guys tell me what your favorite music genres to write to are…
I know my favorite is R&B!

I don't see why the first round wouldn't count. I mean, I'm even counting the averages from the bonus round...
Anyhow, I don't really write to a genre, especially for lyrics. I know it's not the same thing as writing to a genre, but I typically hate genre pieces because there's no innovation, there's only following an approved format to obtain a sound that's not one's own. I'm a fan of experimentation in others' music and lyrics and so I try to squeeze bountiful amounts of such experimentation in my work. Obviously everyone else doesn't have to adhere to the same ideals, it's simply what I prefer and like to work with.
On another note, originality doesn't exist so I never look for it or bother obsessing over it, even though it kind of sounds like it in the above paragraph.

I wouldn't count the bonus round either… The reason I don't count the first round is because it was really just a test to see who was going to actually try and who was just not willing to put in the effort…

Tymps' artpop could mean anything.
I don't necessarily write for a genre either, but my favorite songs I've written have been more pop-leaning. I like writing upbeat, happy songs and mournful ballads about equally. This season has favored sad songs for me, so I'm excited for my return to pop this week.
And unrelated, but did everyone respond re: recording?

I'd like to consider most of my songs to be along the lines of euro-dance, trance, or dubstep-influenced pop, though I also write like...ballads and sometimes try other genres.

For the most part my songs straddle the line between pop/rock and alternative/indie rock. I do like to experiment with genres like country and euro dance. I also have a lot of acoustic indie stuff.

It's worth noting, everyone still in has scored a 9 or higher at least once except for one person. No one eliminated has. Only 3 (me, Tymps, feelslikeadream) have scored higher than 9, and Tymps has the record score with 9 2/3

Yeah, overall it's a pretty tight race. It's anyone's game!
Until I knock someone out this weekend with my point reduction power

Between the top three averages, there's not even a .2 difference in total. Just worth noting. And no one else is that far behind; there's barely a 1 point difference between the top average and the bottom one, versus last season's 3+ point difference between the top and the top averages and this point in the game. (We scored differently then, but shhhhhhh )
Also, every contestant left is either above or near the overall-overall average (the averages of all the contestants averaged out).

Hmm, So I've wrote about suicide, love, death, birthday, strength, weakness. Sex and passion, I'm going to write about sex and passion.

Since Im absolutely sure no one else is using the same language as me and I submitted yesterday I'll post one of the choruses of my song (it changes a little every time) if you want to. Very different from my usual
Oh and my language is navajo but that phrase is in the pre chorus
Powwow
Powwow to the beat of the drums
Hot like a bonfire ‘till the great white comes
Powwow to the beat of the drums
Whistleblowing till the daylight comes
Powwow to the beat of the drums
The other boys fight but they won’t get some
Powwow to the beat of the drums
A desert storm, we’re one with the sun

Wow, I really like your song, GotSkill! It would be a shame if that was the song that got you eliminated due to a point deduction

Don't even go there. Feelslikeadream wouldn't do that to a rookie now, would he? And I'm only 4/6 average, wouldn't he rather eliminate someone a little higher up on the totem pole?
Plus if this really is a strong entry a point won't bump me. But my scores are all over the place and I'll take myself out on a low week
