award shows are always rigged, they just give it to whoever attends and since rihanna is attending as well (and being given that icon award or w/e) i won't be shocked if they give her the r&b award too regardless of who actually got the most votes

I'm not sure about AMAs. They are VERY vote orientated. Which means, whoever votes, wins.
For example, Nicki beat out Drake, Kanye and other big rap names on voting power last year. The album she got awards for at the AMAs last year wasn't even fully rap
