I can't speak for others, but I will be disappointed if ARTPOP opens with less than 350k and I will say so. I'm just surprised that people are saying that 300k is "very impressive" when it really isn't. BTW opened as big as it did because of the TFM era (even without those $1 sales it still did amazingly) and Born This Way (single) was less successful than Roar and TD had way more hits than TFM. Surely Prism wouldn't have opened with more than 1M, but something like 450k seemed likely to me.

When will people realize that artists like Katy Perry (Pitbull, Flo Rida, Rihanna etc.) can have a billion Billboard Hot 100 #1s but they're still going to open with low numbers since they're B-list & singles artists?
OMG not people acting like this is good. We all know if a certain pop star who happened to be the highest musician on Forbes this year and has the highest average tour gross among her peers (gosh, the benefits of being A-list) opened with these numbers, y'all would be dragging her to hell despite the fact that her single is not doing as good. Stop being hypocrites and maintaining higher standards for certain pop stars and accept that these numbers emphasize Katy's lack of star power and weak fan base.
