But that's mostly cause we're also a microcosm of all those world issues into one country considering we're a "melting pot". We have to talk about Muslims, and blacks, and Mexicans, and gays just within the US. And how we resolve those issues internally plays into how we address them externally.

Police officers just executed 2 black men w/ impunity. Then like a black man just assassinated 5 police officers. Now there are police in military gear at every intentionally peaceful protest, it's all very war-like and problematic.

This isn't like some bickering on the Kardashian. Or reality TV shows. These events are shaping the direction of Americas future. Will we become more divided or will we manage to suck some of the vitriol from the public sphere?

I am condemning her, but also, being familiar enough with her ways of thinking and opinions, I know that she is not a racist woman (quite opposite side of the spectrum, at that) and could have driven the point across in a less damaging way. The point she was trying to make was lost in the shuffle and a bit far fetched regarding the words she chose but anyone that knows her even remotely wouldn't use this against her in a permanent way.

Where did she even say that? From what I'm reading she's talking specifically about music & she's right, I can't recall a single American artist touching the topic of Middle East & I can literally give you a list of hundreds of artists talking about Black people issues. I'm not saying that's wrong but I'm saying that she didn't lie.

And all these problems are rooted in the same thing, racial/cultural differences, if you truly want to end them, you need to end them all with one strategy, not "first lets include this group into the circle & then lets leave others to solve their issues".

I have never seen a single big black artist talk about the same type of racial issues Muslims suffer for example. They are demanding white people to recognize & support them & they should do the same with Muslim people demanding & asking for their support too (instead of ignorantly attacking them, like you guys are obviously doing with MIA right now). I know it's a sensitive topic for some of y'all that are living it, but yeah, you guys are not the only ones dealing with issues & everybody deserves the right to say their piece regarding their issues.

TBH, I think the Internet is fueling the divide. A lot of ignorant people now have public platforms to undermine any middle conversations. So it becomes a zero sum game fueled by propaganda.

We've become extremely narcissistic in the sense that we don't care how our opinions reflect on our communities or offend others. We just have to be heard. And the anonymity the Internet afford absolves us of any accountability. We're turning into little Trumps.

This is just history repeating itself unfortunately. Police brutality has existed since the abolishment of slavery, but the difference is that now you can catch these things on smartphones.

Back in the 90's and prior, if there just so happened not to be any video cameras surveying the street you were on, you could murder someone in cold blood and get away with it much easier. The Rodney King verdict gave the public better insight on what was going on, but since those in Congress and other major powers don't like implementing any change, real peace will either come when they die out or something massively drastic that they can't ignore occurs.

It's amazing how little they like putting effort into adapting to the times. Allegedly they still use computers from the 80's and send important messages via fax.
