Clearly Beyonce doesn't want to make electro music. Actually she was very clear about what direction she wanted to take with 4 and the fact that she didn't like the new music trends. Judging by her new collaborators she still isn't interested in making electro and I think that's what some of you really want to hear.

Dance music is very broad though and she's already given us dance songs on IASF and even 4. Schoolin' Life was technically dance. End of Time was dance.

People need to face the fact that Radio is as far as Beyonce is willing to go with electro, but have you guys even heard her live arrangement of Radio? She turned it into something completely different.

Definitely better.

Her pop audience is fickle anyway. She should just focus on making good music, which doesn't rule out dance music, but it rules out the likes of RedOne and Dr Luke.

Has far as sales go the issue was it was too urban/soulful for her Pop fans that was 4 biggest issue you may not want to believe it but it was. I mean Radio Updates and Sales numbers don't lie. Beyonce could've promoted this album to sun up to sun down wouldn't made any difference, maybe a little but not much.

I agree 110%.everybody's always talking about promo, but always seems to forget that RTW had great promo.and actually had great radio audience the first week of release.

I was with you until you said that your favourite on 4 is Best Thing I Never Had. I truly think that Beyonce shouldn't just restrict herself to RnB all the time - which she already doesn't.

I agree that whomever Beyonce works with, she will certainly get something out of it that she likes, or she won't include it on the album. There's no way that a Dr. Luke song on a Beyonce album will be like Dr. Luke song on anybody else's. She's much to opinionated about her music.

But if on the whole album Best Thing I Never Had stands out as the best for you, I am doubting what direction you'd like to hear Beyonce go in. I know it's a personal thing but I just cannot stand it. The vocals are good but the way it sounds is not. Babyface really didn't do well for Beyonce that time.

I honestly think that the problem for 4 was RTW as the first single. It's not for everyone. It took me about 10+ listens to start to appreciate. I loved Pon De Floor but found RTW to be very unmelodic and a bit hard on the ears. After many listens and good speakers I grew to appreciate it and now I love it. Its perfectly okay to not have a pop album, but if you're going to expect pop album type sales, the first single better be something that people can grab onto a bit more. EOT, LOT, Countdown, even Party would have been better.

Then to follow it with BTINH instead of a stronger song like EOT was a mistake that I think laid the groundwork for 4 underperformance.

If I'm being honest, RTW would have made a better bonus track as a novelly song from a fun club hit, with Schoolin' Life on the main album in it's place.

None of her albums sound the same. Even with the same producers on the same album, the songs don't sound the same. Tell me how Smash Into You sounded like Single Ladies, 1+1, End of Time, Love on Top, ect? Like come on, you all are soooooo... UGH! Shut it. Let Bey make her music because at the end of the day, we're all here to enjoy the music. She doesn't owe us a chart position or an award. That's so secondary, especially considering the fact that she doesn't define her success by those standards.

I feel 99.99999% of this post, just have to ask, and I don't mean to sound pretentious, but do you think those producers are capable of producing work up to Bey's standard of production? My objection to Dr Luke etc. is an objection to the suggestion made that Bey needs to work with them 'for radio airplay/hits'. We all know Bey brings the best out of producers, it's just a question of whether or not the best they can do is up to her standard (if so she'll probs just add them to the Cambodia itunes edition or something )

There is so much ****ery being posted. 4 underperformed because of bad single choices, inconsistent videos, messy releases and her pregnancy. Run The World should've been a bonus track. And the album should've gotten a lead single that actually represented the body of work. Run The World doesn't even belong on 4. That's one situation where I think Bey played it safe and failed. I would taken everything. Except RDY, SO & LUUM as the lead single
