True. Radio seems to like their more mature sound. I think one of the biggest problems with their lead singles is that they sound similar. They should have gone with SOML instead of BSE.

LBD would be an awful choice. Throwback rock is as out of vogue as you can get on mainstream radio today.

Same could be said of MM as well. What are they thinking?

I like MM. Hate it at first but I love it now. I can understand that it might be a bad single choice but it could also be a a new introduction to a new audience. Same with LBD. What song would you have preferred to be the third single?

Little Black Dress is great but it's super dated so I don't think it would do well on radio.. I think the reason they didn't have a hit before was because DJs perceived their singles as WMYB clones (One Thing, LWWY, BSE, Kiss You). Little Things was different but everyone thought the lyrics were ridiculous. SOML doing well is a testament to their current star power cause as soon as they did a change on their sound radio was ready to embrace it. This is why I think Midnight Memories although a really fun track is a bad single choice, Through The Dark is a wasted hit

TTD could easily be a bigger hit than SOML. They always waste potential singles from every era.

I don't agree that it would introduce them to a new audience. People who listen to that type of music are NEVER going to give 1D the time of day. Not only that, but rock fans are the type of people who get offended when you sound too similar to a classic (which ALL of 1D's rock tracks do). The whole en devour is a waste of time.

I would have liked Happily, but I am not convinced it would do great. Still..... one of the better options they have to choose from, and I think they need an uptempo.

Right Now would have been a safe choice, same with Strong.

If they are sticking with the folk sound TTD or Something Great wouldn't be awful either.

Hell, I wouldn't have minded Diana.

Diana, Right Now and Happily are album tracks if you ask me. You & I is a track I wouldn't mind becoming a future single. I can see about the up-tempo thing the problem is they're not going to dance and they all seem stuck on being rock stars for the moment probably why Just Can't Let Her Go didn't make the album.

Apart from the lead singles flopping they have done a great job since the album is selling like crazy.

Artists who pick singles based on what they (or their stans) like are on a quick path to oblivion
