more information from the pre-listening party:
Do any songs sound too experimental or progressive/avant-garde in any sense?
I did not get that feeling, it's all pop music with edge... Nothing sounded like it was trying too hard...
Some people are saying MDNA is as good as ROL, Like a Prayer and Confessions, do u agree?
It's a great Madonna album, I don't like comparing albums, it's an awesome mix of everything great Madonna has to offer. I personally loved it, it's a great mix of pop, dance, midtempo & ballads. She sounds like she is having so much fun!
The deluxe was pretty long, I listened to it twice and it took close to 3 hours... nothing weird, some of the lyrics were dark.
Gang Bang - It's so infectious! Lots of singing & some killer speaking. Gang Bang totally reminded me of "Thief Of Hearts" from Erotica, the tone, attitude, energy, M owns that song! Madonna is the master and Gang Bang is her slave ... She owns that bitch! Matthew Rettenmund tweeted that "Gang Bang" has a Transvision Vamp echo to me in spite of being resolutely clubby.
What are your thoughts on "Gang Bang"?
Gang Bang is a speeding train going 100 miles an hour, u know u r about 2 crash, u hold on 4 your life & u love every sec
B-Day Song - It was very hard to tell, if she (MIA) was I missed it... But then again, I did not like BDAY song, so maybe she's still on it...
Some Girls & I'm Addicted - Honestly can't even remember what Some Girls & I'm Addicted sounded like, both uptempo dance records...
On Nicki's Verse on "I Don't Give A" : All I remember is that it wasn't as short as on GMAYL, but don't remember anything about it, I was way too excited. It wasn't short, I just don't remember what she talked about, I was way too excited and did not pay enough attention... It honestly went by so quickly that the only part I remember is Nicki saying Madonna is The Queen...
Superstar is awesome, upbeat, great hook, I was told Lola sings a little on it, it sounded cute and fun...
Do the songs sound like anything else on the radio?
Most of the songs would fit perfectly on the radio, by the way they sound, energy, fun and amazing hooks. Throughout the entire album I just couldn't help but think that this is the most commercial Madonna album, full of hooks, energy and love.

I'm fine with her being commercial now, as long as she experiments next era... please.

Everything We Know About MDNA…so far!
.
Track by Track:
(1) “Girl Gone Wild” – Written by Madonna, Jenson Vaughn, Benny Benassi, and Ale Benassi. Produced by Madonna, Benny and Ale Benasi. The version we’ve heard is the album version. It is the biggest pop stomper on the album but suffers from flattest vocals compared to the rest of the album. Opens with spoken word, “Act of Contrition” lyrics.
(2) “Gang Bang”- Produced by Madonna and The Demolition Crew. “Gang Bang” is like “Girl Gone Wild” on female Viagra. It is a dark, driving club stomper, aggressive as hell. It has a techno edge. She is singing in a weird theatrical drawl about taking revenge on a lover who ruined her life. ‘Shot you dead, shot my lover in the head…I’m going straight to hell…I’ve got a lot of friends there’, she deadpans before yelling, ‘Drive bitch, die bitch!’. Described as – It’s kind of stupid, kind of amazing, kind of funny and kind of ****ed. A speeding train going 100 miles an hour, you know you’re about to crash, you hold on for your life and you love every second. An explosion, an atomic bomb, a massive fight between good and evil
(3) “I’m Addicted” Produced by Madonna, Benny and Ale Benassi, The Demolition Crew.
(4) “Turn Up the Radio” – Produced by Madonna and Martin Solveig. It is a sweeping, joyous pop-dance song as anthemic as “Get Together” It begins like a delicate ballad as she pleads with the listener to stop for a moment, to get away from the world through music. It may sound trite but there is urgency in its simplicity. It transforms into the album’s most pounding moment, reaching a climax that threatens to blow the speakers.
(5) “Give Me All Your Luvin’” – Produced by Madonna and Martin Solveig. This track, which we’ve heard, sticks out like a sore thumb on this album as the weakest track.
(6) “Some Girls” – Produced by Madonna and William Orbit.
(7) “Superstar” – Produced by Madonna, Indiigo Muanza, Michael Malih. Features Lola singing backing vocals! A charming and fluffy song (“ooooh, la la!”) that felt like “Little Star” had grown up and was having fun. It is surely the sweetest song Madonna has released since Cherish. It twirls along, an open-top summer anthem, serenading a new lover with a hypnotic chorus. It is simple and pretty and a perfect song to sing on her summer concerts and should definitely be a single. An Upbeat with a great hook.
(8) “I Don’t Give A ****” – Produced by Madonna and Martin Solveig. Featuring Nicki Minaj. Said to be one of the album’s tour-de-force moments. Beginning by recounting a typical day, it becomes intensely honest, and is, as is her way, a telling-off of her critics.
“Wake up, this is your life, children on your own, gotta plan on the phone, meet the press, buy a dress, do all this to impress…do ten things at once and if you don’t like it I don’t give a….’ It’s here that she makes specific reference to her ex-husband. ‘I tried to be the perfect wife…I diminished myself…it swallowed me…if I was a failure then I don’t give a…’.
The track builds to a genius, choral, almost Tim Burton-esque conclusion. Nicki Minaj sings about Madonna is the queen. Her rap is longer than on “Give Me All Your Luvin’”
(9) “I’m a Sinner” – Produced by Madonna and William Orbit. This is a slower, mid-tempo track.
The suite of songs “Love Spent,” “Masterpiece” and “Falling Free” is probably going to please any Madonna They’re beautifully sung and are not cursed with oversimplified lyrics, nor do they sound like they care much if asinine radio programmers will like them.
(10) “Love Spent” – Produced by Madonna and William Orbit. A pretty and warm, mid-tempo song that is Miles Away meets Nothing Fails meets Love Profusion.
(11) “Masterpiece” – Produced by Madonna and William Orbit.
(12) “Falling Free” – Produced by Madonna and William Orbit. This Orbit-produced track is one of the saddest songs she’s ever written (She co-wrote with Joe Henry). It is gorgeously sung and total stand-out on the album. It is described as “Pretty, trippy, hypnotic, ambient, reminiscent of Mer Girl.” One of the best tracks on the record.
(13) “Beautiful Killer” – Produced by Madonna and Martin Solveig. This is an Orbit-sounding Solveig song. One of the strongest tracks, it’s a surprise that it is only a bonus track and not on the album proper. It is a fun, 80s-sounding, strings-laced tribute to French actor Alain Delon with lots of energy, swagger, coolness, and attitude.
(14) “I ****ed Up” – Produced by Madonna and Martin Solveig. Even the cringe-inducing title “I ****ed Up” turns out to be a really pretty, plaintive pop song. One of the album’s slower songs.
(15) “B-day Song” – Produced by Madonna and Martin Solveig. While M.I.A. was rumored to guest vocal on this track, her bit has yet to be heard, if it has not yet been cut all together. Not a stand out track its lyrics are described as childish.
(16) “Best Friend” – Produced by Madonna and Benny and Ale Benassi. All we know is that it is an up-tempo track, consider, too, that is Benassi produced.
The Album in General:
There are definitely songs on here that are personal, uplifting and inspiring mixed among the far louder “I’m still hot and young, **** me in any hole you can!” club crushers.
MDNA is a beautiful killer. Orbit’s work is with more personal- and Solveig’s songs are clubbier creatio
Much of MDNA is about having fun, but despite that, this is a dark album.
If Like a Prayer was her divorce record and Hard Candy suffered, one senses, from being put together as her relationship with Guy Ritchie was falling apart, then MDNA is a **** you to her marriage, the life that came with it, and partly to herself for losing her identity in a partnership. She’s out to recapture who she is, and she has demons to slay – but it’s fun, ****ed up, dancey and full of drama.
It is her most commercial album, full of hooks, energy and love.
