They can't do that because then some of them will actually have to moderate.

Apparently you're "allowed to comment" on arguments happening in NHB, but even though that's stated, it's still a grey area -- if a mod wanted to give you a warning for commenting on an argument in NHB, they could and argue it was pointless. I'd just steer clear of doing that for now. The problem ATRL is facing right now is that the "rules" of the forum are becoming overabundant. You can insult artists in SYG, but not members, but there's a whole list of separate rules about insulting artists in SYG. And then you can insult members in NHB, but not artists, but there's a whole other list of rules about insulting members in NHB, but then you have HQ -- where you can talk about members? But... not insult them? But, technically, you can comment on members fighting in NHB in HQ, according to the rules of HQ. Mix in the list or report reasons and the occasional (or frequent?) alleged biased behaviour, and it's just overwhelming, especially if you're a brand new member who wants to enjoy the forum. Members may be warned for commenting with only gifs or emoticons to express emotion. Members may even be warned for using the same avatar as another member. I mean, the list goes on. I think mods or whoever is in charge of the forum needs to take a step back, re-evaulate and simplify these rules or conditions, in general. HQ is essentially a subforum of NHB, and I wouldn't be surprised if HQ has a subforum of its own in the future, with its own set of rules. All of this is unneeded, in my opinion. Simplify. Adding more and more rules doesn't necessarily make a better forum.

I was going to reply with an emoticon but I might get booked for that, so I'm just going to say that I agree with you and it's too strict. It's just a forum.

You said it perfectly. Every main rule has about 40 more rules under that and with too many rules the lines become blurred and no one knows what to say or do.
At this point ATRL is a school. The MAIN rules are teachers in classrooms, and then the 24-30 students inside each classroom to accompany each teacher represent a whole different set of lessor rules under the MAIN one. Then the desks the students sit in are another 24-30 rules on an even lower level. Etc...

What Drais and Vincent said.
Like I've been saying for a long time, mods need stop pretending that ATRL is the ****ing Buckingham Palace. We are messy, we've always been messy and we'll never stop being messy. While I agree that we must have a WP and policing system, SYG and NHB are the place for that. Let the **** go down like it always had. These new rules are really stupid.

why was the Ciara album thread closed? how is October 2012 not an approximate release date? it is the definition of an approximate release date

^It's stupid, but I guess it could be more approximate. "October 12, 2012", for example is more approximate than "October 2012", even if not by much. That's still a completely arbitrary reason to close a thread, though.
I dunno, part of me wants NHB/SYG/HQ to just be one thread, since there's always going to be inherant overlap. You start out by insulting someone, then you slip into insulting their fave, etc. Having three threads for three different "types" of draggings seems a bit bloated to me, personally.
I also think people with SYG-worthy avatars/sigs should be warned and asked to take them down. I mean, what's the point in restricting "SYG content" to one thread if you're going to allow people to post with avatars and sigs that have the same sort of material in them? Basically every post they make with them could be considered "SYG material".

My quote is from SYG, but it is my PERSONAL SIG. If you want them to control that, what if the point of having a profile at all We should be able to customize our stuff. If they want to control all of that we might as well be thatgrapejuice's type of layout for posters and that is just

Well, I'm not personally offended by sigs and avatars like that, I just realized that it's kind of hypocritical. But then, you're right, we want members to be able to express themselves and not feel too restricted, too. Thinking more about it, it would be really unneeded to inforce. If anyone has a problem, they can take it up with that person in NHB.

I don't really post in NHB or SYG, but its clear that the forum rules have become way, way too complicated.
