Came here to post that. I expected THE SHALLOWS to be critically panned. It looks like a low-budget, predictable movie. I just might pay to see it instead of downloading it for free.

YES I saw the trailer yesterday and got my attention instantly. We haven't had a great shark film in a very long time and this looks very promising. And the fact that Blake Lively is in it makes it extra special. Can't wait to watch this

Both good films, but Kristi was shot very beautifully and I like that the movie was practically one long chase scene. They made great use of the empty college campus setting. I recommend it.

The Invitation was good, but the ending was lacking imo. I guess I was expecting a twist but the twist never came, which may have been the twist all along.

The Conjuring 2 was brilliant. The cinematography was stunning and I love how Wong builds up the tension. I was for sure that Ed would die. I'm so glad he didn't though. Vera and Patrick are such a talented (and gorgeous) duo, it almost makes me want to see a Supernatural type spin-off show starring The Warrens.

It's easily my favourite of the last years together with the first Conjuring. The storytelling is superb.

Just saw The Shallows. It's not much of a horror movie aside from a few moments about 1/3 into it. It's fun enough, tho. Poor Blake not being able to anchor a film, there's a reason it's so short!

Did anyone see The Visit yet? I finally saw it for the first time and it was sooooo boring. There was literally only one scary scene.

I screamed when the grandmother quickly appeared into the video camera the kids hid in the living room . But the twist at the end was well done, I thought. I didn't see that coming.

Conjuring 2 was really good! James Wan is an amazing director, the way he transitions between scenes and some of the camera techniques he used were cool. The thing that I loved about Paranormal Activity (first one) is the creepiness of the camera staring down into the dark corridor and I noticed that here a couple times here too. I kinda liked the first one a bit more, but this one was cool too

Only thing I wasn't too keen on was the dog transforming, actually the whole Crooked Man thing felt a bit out of place, kinda reminded me of the stop motion Tim Burton films. And the Elvis bit went on too long, but that's probably just me being a heartless robot.

I heard he's doing a Valek film? there was a trailer for Light's Out before the movie and that looks good too

I saw The Neon Demon today and lord...that movie is something....first off
Jena Malone deserves a for what she did Her trying to finger **** Elle and The Corpse masturbation, to the bath tub scene and then to her disturbing psycho huge vaginally bleed
I liked the metamorphisis of Jessy and wish she turned more twisted
her shading Gigi in the beginning was funny "He calls me the Bionic Woman!"

Gigi and Sarah were both amazing, hot and sexy but evil at the same time
lived for how Sarah turned to be extremely twisted and she's so stunning , her last scene of taking off her shades then eating the eyeball was just stunning!!

there were some bumps that bothered me
*I wish there was more fashion involved and showing off more of Jessy's modeling but also how darker she gets
*I sorta was put off with that small quick chasing scene in the last third, I hoped Jessy would've put up a fight or they would've done more to just pushing her off the pool ledge like gouge her eyes or cut her cheeks or something
*I did live for the concept that when they ate Jessy, Ruby and Gigi died cause she was inside of them, but I feel like it could've gone a bit more further like them going crazy cause they see her hands pressing against their stomachs or hair /eye color changing etc.
But nonetheless I still think it's a spectacular slow burn film and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you're into fashion or disturbing non-gore scenes

Yes, I saw it the week after it opened. I can't say I didn't like it but I'm no fan of horror comedy. I gotta say it would have been way more creepy if the movie would have taken itself more seriously. 2 creepy or scary moments are just not good enough for a horror movie. And the movie did promote itself like that.

Reason being there's not much you can do with a simple concept like that.

But it’s taken some shrewd calculation to realize that Lively, with her beachy glow and thrust-out chin, could carry this thing. The movie requires this particular star, body and soul, and Lively’s confidence turns it into a piece of pop empowerment, even when realism starts slipping away in the final stretches.

Lively is a fine choice for this kind of thing—she’s gorgeous, yes, but, more important, she’s possessed of a curious glow that makes you root for her, an odd mix of goofy earnestness and angelic, otherworldly knowing that provokes both trust and concern.

Blake Lively carries the whole movie more-or-less by herself, and she convincingly plays out one physically torturous situation after another.

Lively’s obvious commitment to the role results in a heroine that is by turns vulnerable and tough as nails, and always worth rooting for.

Also working in The Shallows’ favor is a gutsy performance by Blake Lively. She carries the entire film and is in 99% of the scenes, and she’s completely convincing as a surfer who finds herself in a life-or-death struggle with a Great White. You root for Nancy and, unlike most action films, seldom do you want to yell at her for the choices she’s making while trying to stay alive.

Lively has shown flashes of being a world-class actress in previous films, but I would say she’s now arrived. She has to carry this film -- her only scene partner, for the most part, is Collet-Serra behind the camera, and a seagull (the seagull is quite funny). It’s a physically demanding role that required Lively to conjure up a lot of emotion and more heart than most actors display throughout an entire career.

I just watched The Loved Ones and it was ok, a little bit boring at times.

I wish they had explained more about the story, for example the reason the girl did that to so many people. I mean, it was for revenge, but still...

Literally felt the complete opposite - I thought the whole movie was so intriguing, and the twist at the end was such a lazy cop out - I would seriously rate that movie if they didn't end it so horro101
