She might have sold a few more singles, but SNSD makes 10x as much money as her solo would.
Taemin, who sold more albums than Taeyeon, ending up with about 10% of SHINee's total revenue being from Press It of the first half of 2016 puts things into perspective. Especially considering they didn't even comeback in that time.
The minute she leaves SNSD, the majority of her fanbase evaporates.
