I don't believe this because I've never seen or heard anyone getting a special Grammy honor, unless that person is dead. And in that case, they usually have some artists perform a medley of the deceased biggest hits.

Now if Beyoncé dies (why am I even writing this monstrosity, knock on every piece of wood), I will know that they killed her and I will personally hunt every member of the academy.

Michael Jackson received on in 1993 (the Grammy Legend Award). Diana Ross got an honorary Grammy (Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award).
