You don't need a hit single to cover ground in the United States, the energy at her shows is incredible despite her lack of hits. She interests people, definitely. She just needs a hit single to really make a presence on the pop scene. She has, however, converted a more underground scene quite successfully. People who are very into buying music in 2012 know who she is, I don't see that changing.

I find that even after Primadonna, when I bring up Marina to people I'm just met with blank stares. She still hasn't filtered into the mainstream conscious yet in the UK. Which isn't surprising, EH is still a long way behind TFJ in sales and Primadonna only managed to outdo Hollywood by one position. In the UK she needs a song with longevity even if it doesn't smash it on position, like Ellie Goulding had with Starry Eyed or Paloma Faith had with New York.
I feel that aside from Marina's artistic plan for this project there has been no direction. It was the same with TFJ era, they just threw out singles in the hope that one would do something, there was no plan or thought in the process. Shampain was a disaster and complete waste of money in the end and Oh No! was an expensive mistake. This era is following the same pattern in the UK, but at least this time they spent nothing on the disaster that was Power and Control.
I don't feel the gains made in the US truly counter the loss of ground in the UK. Paloma Faith said that an artist of her level needs to sell 500,000 copies of their album to break even. TFJ sold just over 100,000 and certainly didn't break even and EH has stalled at 50,000 and that has Dr. Luke on it. EH is going to have cost 679 and Atlantic a fortune and clearly Marina is going to struggle to make the sales to to cover both EH and TFJ. Whichever way you look at it Marina is in a difficult position and will be at serious risk of losing her record contract.
I honestly don't understand why her peers (Florence, Ellie, Paloma, Eliza) have all risen to success and she's still stalled in the same position unable to break through.
