I'm not sure why the Anaconda video is so controversial, honestly. Male rap videos look like the Anaconda video all the time.
And I guess people are comparing Anaconda with Miley's viral "backlash". My issue with Miley's videos was never her shaking her butt or sexualizing herself. It was just that Miley always tended to look foolish and come off as slightly creepy... I don't how to explain it. It's the same reason why I thought the Bangerz tour looked really bad; she incorporates really, really bizarre elements into her works like twerking on teddy bears, as just one example. She tends to exploit rather than get inspiration, such as from elements of hip hop like twerking and even going so far as using little people in hers show in an arguably offensive manner.
Nicki's video is also sexual, but no one can deny Nicki is doing some intense and impressive choreography. I wouldn't call the Anaconda video freakish or creepy in any way like I would a Miley Bangerz era video. I also don't find anything in the Anaconda video mildly offensive, like a Miley performance a video.
Does this make any sense at all?

That's my issue with Miley's shock tactics... she always goes for the freakshow element (not a nice way to put it, but I had no other word for it). I give her the reaction she wants, though.

Miley goes as far as performing oral sex on stage, etc. But I still love her. People just love to hate on Nicki. They find something wrong even in her stripped back videos (PNP & RTM). She stays winning so who cares.

I didn't explain my feelings on Miley well enough... but her shock value isn't the same as the one the Anaconda video is receiving.

Miley lacks any sensuality or subtlety. Everything she does seems crude and over-the-top for the only purpose of being shocking.
Anaconda didn't seem purposefully trying to shock anyone or be controversial. It's a song about asses featuring a video with asses. People had to expect it on some level.

I'd like for all the main Barbz that post in here and see this, to take a challenge. I'd like to propose that when the album leaks, none of us listen to it. If you do decide to listen to the leak, don't post reaction in the album thread.
I'm proposing this because I was thinking about the release of BEYONCE and how everyone got to enjoy the music and one time and react together. More importantly, everyone was so excited as it was our first time listening to it.
I know it'll be tempting but if I'm being honest, previous to BEYONCE, I can't remember the last time I've waited to listen to an album on it's release day due to leaks. I think it would simply be something cool to witness everyone's (Barbz, at least) reaction at the same time.

I will take you up on this challenge.
Especially since 9x out of 10 I wouldn't have the time to listen to the leak anyway

l dont see how one could be that impatient to listen to a leak
l guess it takes the luxury away from the album for me. After all... we waited 2 years.

Definitely saving. We've waited all this time that a leak shouldn't "ruin" the excitement factor of it for us.

This would be funny if riri actually had that issue. He really does put dedication into his craft of messing up words on purpose. IDGI but its clear that it's intentional...but like you said whatever floats your boat. If that's what some need to do to be noticed.
I'd rather all of us have a healthy conversation about Anaconda (the single) but...

After PNP...the natural progression was to put out anaconda
After taking a stand to tell nuccas to stop lookin at ha azz (irony purchased for visual excitement) the natural progression is to make your butt talk in a video.
I'm just saying I can see why people are surprised and didn't expect a pseudo feminist overtly sexual message.
But its slaying which shows that the GP are here for trivial, watered down quality Nicki speaking about fun things and not serious things.
