She has to go number one first week because longevity is something she doesn't have anymore. Not having a single song in the top 15 of 2011's year-end chart shows that.

The last time she spent 3 months in the top ten was with Bad Romance. Which was actually 4 months and 2 weeks, by the way.

But yeah, Born This Way didn't even manage to go recurrent.

Mostly agree with what you mentioned. I think ARTPOP can pull 700k without amazon deal. People ignore the fact that even BTW no amazon deal (which increased 400K+ sales), 30-40% of them might still buy it and that week can reached say 800k.
