1. Beach House - 'Depression Cherry'
It was obvious, wasn't it? It's argualby the most Beach House-y Beach House album and yet it's still full of surprises. Legrand and Scally went shoegaze on the lead single "Sparks", there are heavier guitars on 'Beyond Love' and there's a choir (a choir!) on the closing track "Days of Candy". It may be weird, but almost everything on 'Depression Cherry' reminds me of what they have done before - I hear "Take Care" in "PPP", "Myth" in "Space Song" and "Irene" in "Levitation". And this may be it, this may be the point. Only Beach House could get away with making 6 similar albums. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with it, they just know what to do to make a listener pleased.

Oh I didn't expect it! It's solid though, but I preferred most of the other albums in your top 10. Still made my Hms though.

2. Beach House - "Sparks"
"Did you see it coming?" sings Legrand on 'Depression Cherry' track "PPP". No, I certainly did not. "Sparks" was quite unexpected. It starts with a strange loop that goes throught the whole songs. And then we have the MBV-esque guirtar, oh my god. And then comes the organ, oh my god! It's definitely not a typical Beach House track, rather an experiment. But sometimes taking risks pays off.

1. Carly Rae Jepsen - "Let's Get Lost"
"Run Away With Me" may have stolen all the spotlights, but "Let's Get Lost" is the real winner. It's way more than a cute late-night jam. The lyrics are simple, catchy and relatable. Everything is in its right place - there's a great bassline, saxophone that appears out of nowhere and Carly's vocals sound like they were made just for this song.
This is exactly like the situation with Robyn. Everyone praised "Dancing On My Own", but "Call Your Girlfriend" is the real masterpiece of 'Body Talk'. And "Let's Get Lost" is the "Call Your Girlfriend" of 'E•MO•TION'.

O, kolejna niespodzianka.

Some thoughts on 2015
Arguably the best year in music since 2012. We had some great comebacks (Sleater-Kinney, Joanna Newsom, Sufjan Stevens, Róisín Murphy), some unexpected releases (Beach House's 'Thank Your Lucky Stars', Grimes' 'Art Angels' (but was it really?), Drake's 'If You're Reading This It's Too Late'), excellent debuts (Empress Of's 'Me', Courtney Barnett's 'Sometimes I Sit and Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit', Shamir's 'Ratchet', Jamie xx' 'In Colour') and of course tons of other awesome albums. Kendrick Lamar's game changing 'To Pimp a Butterfly' has (rightfully) received overwhelming acclaim, Young Thug has released 2015's best mixtape, 'Barter 6' and Vince Staples' storytelling on his double debut album 'Summertime '06' was one of the best this year. While Beach House, Joanna Newsom and Majical Cloudz played it safe and chose to make only minor changes on their albums, artist like Grimes, Tame Impala or Björk decided to experiment.
Unfortunately there were also some disappointing releases. Maybe Destroyer's 'Poison Season' wasn't that bad, but after spectacular 'Kaputt' I expected way more from him. Disclosure's 'Caracal' however was simply awful, it felt like an album full of 'Settle' rejects. CHVRCHES' 'Every Open Eye' wasn't interesting at all and unlike his previous albums, Toro y Moi's 'What For?' didn't do anything for me.
Should I mention all the albums that were supposed to come out this year, but for some reason we still don't have them? Of course I should. I'm gonna start with Chromatics. 'Dear Tommy' was announced over a year ago and it's actually finished. Since ****ing April. James Blake's 'Radio Silence' was apparently 70% done this summer, so where is it? Same question goes naturally to Kanye. We've already heard 3 new songs, but it's unclear whether are they going to be on 'Swish'. Sky Ferreira, Frank Ocean or Drake haven't even offered any details besides the album titles.
My best discoveries of 2015? 'Embryonic' by The Flaming Lips, 'Fever' by Kylie Minogue, 'The Glow Pt. 2' by The Microphones, 'The Woods' by Sleater-Kinney, 'Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain' by Pavement, everything by Björk, 'Anniemal' by Annie and 'Loud City Song' by Julia Holter.
I've attended some gigs and festivals this year and I'm going to finish this piece with sharing my thoughts on them. I've seen some acts like MŘ, Jessie Ware and Flying Lotus (who put me on a guestlist on the second night ) even twice and have to admit that they were all pretty good. I would say that I enjoyed Kendrick Lamar's, FKA twigs' and Future Islands' sets the most. Kendrick simply killed it. He did almost everything from 'good kid, m.A.A.d. city' and like 3 songs from 'To Pimp a Butterfly', but there's honestly nothing to complain about. I've already seen twigs live before and I knew what to expect, but wow! She's somehow got even better. And Future Islands - remember their performance on Letterman? The whole set was like this. And the fact that Sam went down the stairs just to shake my hand (I was wearing a t-shirt with 'Singles'' artwork printed on it)
Purity Ring's, Empress Of's and Shamir's sets were also excellent. PR should do more songs from 'Shrines', though. And if Shamir ever comes to your city, go and see him, he sounds way different than he does on recordings. (And he may sing something new like he did my concert ).
I think that's it, feel free to comment!

Julia Holter's album will be a must-check for me next year. Good to see a song from Emotion topping your list.
