Avril has the receipts, but Kelly has the longevity.

Thankful was released not long after her AI win. Back then, people thought of her as a karaoke singer. She still had two major hits from the album.

Breakaway was where she proved she was a pop star in her own right. It went 6x Platinum in the US and has 5 smashes.

My December had no promo due to her label not approving of the album. It still sold 2 million WW and had a hit single.

AIEW and Stronger were both equally big eras with 2 smash hits each.

Greatest Hits kinda flopped, but it's a greatest hits album.

Piece By Piece flopped, but still went #1 and has a top 20 single. It's seeing a Revival () now with Piece By Piece (song) likely going top 10 this week.

tbh, when you put it like that, it DOES seem like she just had one big era and moderate eras around it (and thats when you're inflating/exaggerating abit)

i would say avril's first three eras were all pretty big and compared to Kelly even her last two eras dont seem too bad.

I don't see Avril Lavigne shaking up the charts nowadays. Girl hasn't gotten a real hit since What The Hell came out and peaked at #11 in the US and went down to be forgotten and her latest top 20 was a discounted disaster.

Kelly has gotten Mr. Know It All, Stronger and Piece by Piece shaking up the charts. Her Christmas albums did wonders by the time it was released, Stronger (album) crossed the million mark in the US where Avril has been having a hard time to crack an aluminium certification and Piece by Piece (album) might start getting some life after her Idol performance.

Clarkson has had the factor that matters and that is longevity. The other was cute for 3-4 years but no one, besides her fans, uses her now.
