The only problem with the Billboard 200 chart is that before December of 2009 they didn't include catalog albums.
Metallica's album which it's at #40 probably would be in the top 5 at least.

There's a perfect example to show how inaccurate is this Billboard mess:

So Lorde's album is in top 200 because it had chart longevity but Adele's 25 is likely to outsell that album in just ONE WEEK, so according to this methodology Lorde's album is far more popular than Adele's 25 just because it charted for a long period of time even when more people is willing to buy Adele's album in just one week and with that week 25 is probably not even in top 10000 and Lorde's album is 189.

There's no f***** way that in this example Lorde's album is more popular than Adele's 25 which is going to outsell the former with just one week and in an even worst sales climate, but according to billboard it is. This methodology clearly affect albums that sell a lot in a short period of time, and therefore doesn't reflect actual popularity as stated in the example.

It's better to look at the BB200 chart as the most dominant albums of all time, not the biggest or best-selling. On that metric, they succeeded but I agree that it's misleading for Billboard to market this information without a huge disclaimer.

They should have waited until Uptown Funk wrapped up its stay on the Hot 100 to do this. UF SHOULD (I'm changing that word from WILL) be in the Top 2, or at worst Top 3. I think the streaming years are weighted a little lighter than the years without streaming, so UF and Smooth SHOULD be very close for #2.

They're comparing how 21 did to every other album in the last ten years, and it's more impressive, relatively speaking, than Thriller for that reason.

Dark Horse and Shake It Off must've been just a few points apart. SIO is certainly between #s101-105. All Of Me has to be in that range too. I think when SYA is done it should finish in the 90s.

In my calculations, SIO and DH were about 5 positions apart. So, you're probably right.
