I think there is a difference between taking her work seriously (which is good) and taking herself seriously (which is annoying). The most enduring artists of the century, whether they be writers or singers or painters or actors or photographers, have stood the test of time because as good as their work is they are always self-aware and honest. Christina has always been immature and self-important--it's obvious that she thinks very highly of herself from her interviews. And there is no humor in it at all. I hope that with this era she is more grown up and down to earth. Maybe her kid has done that for her.
Exactly and when she says things like Keeps Gettin' Better being so art-pop and futuristic is when you know she doesn't know in what world she lives in. Oh wait isn't Japan her favorite city?
