I've yet to see somebody who's visibly inspired by Taylor's music or persona. Sure she's very powerful, she can tweet about a song and her fans will buy it and give it recognition but nobody will be talking about it in 10 years.

Britney, Gaga, Beyoncé had their image and/or music copied by handfull of new singers at the time. Taylor doesn't have truely unique/impactful song, video or performance that I could think of.

I don't understand why people are saying Celine Dion. Practically every strong vocalist credits her as influence and her music is still selling and being streamed all over the world unlike many other artists ATRL considers "legends."

The Backstreet Boys are the ones who ushered in that era of Max Martin-type of teen pop in the late 90s that introduced *NSYNC, Britney Spears, etc. They were huge.

Let's say an artist has sold 35 million album in their career. An album cost around 10 bucks. That's 350 million dollars that was spent on one person. You're not pulling in that kind of money if you didn't have an impact.

Now impact on pop culture is another thing entirely. Every pop girl has done it. Britney started the teen pop boom, P!nk started the punk/rock/pop singer songwriter grrrl power movement, Lady gaga started the odd dress craze, Kelly Clarkson impacted artists like Katy Perry, Taylor Swift impacted girls with guitars, Miley had her VMAs a Halloween costume.

Like the question should be "How do you define impact and who do you feel has none by your standards" because the actual meaning is lost on the majority of this site

Look no further than to Sam Smith, whose album secured him 6 Grammy nominations in 2015 and won 4 awards (including Best New Artist, Song of the Year and Record of the Year).

Influencing artists is not the same as having impact.

What did she change about singing? What did her singing introduce? Who mimics her singing style? What IS her singing style (for that matter)?

She has no impact, and is one of the best answers of this thread.
