Katy racking up the Firework coins between fag marriage being legalized and Smutmerica's nationalist holiday!
Sorry for this awkward period without anything going on, I didn't expect sign-ups to fill up so quickly and this day was supposed to be when they would become finally filled. The challenge is coming tomorrow morning, and you'll have a extra-long deadline to accommodate some people!
Welcome to the third season of ATRL's Holy Trinity! I'm so glad that all of you decided to participate in this game! It would be nothing without the players.
Now here's some bad news; right now, there are 30 of you. However, after this round, there will only be 18. Just from this round alone, 12 of you will be eliminated. Sucks, I know. Eliminations are not normally this large but think of this like an audition round.
TheMETrinity
What is it that makes you unique? If there's anyone you know best, it's yourself. This trinity is all about you; what sets you apart from the rest? Show us what you can bring to the table in this game that makes you one of the lucky 18 that proceed to the next round. It can be song choices, formatting, write-ups or anything else.
This round, the Golden Trinity will not decide who gets eliminated. I have no special prize for Golden Trinity members, either, but it will help your overall average to place higher, which will help you in the finale.
TIPS
Show us the most distinctive side of you! There will be a lot of entries, but yours should stand out.
Make sure you have variety within your trinity. Show us different sides of you! However, you can also try having a central theme to your trinity to make it stand out.
While you can provide write-ups, aka little descriptions for each song, the judges don't want to read your life story. Concise is best.
A reminder that Trinities are made up of three songs with optional descriptions, usually formatted in some fashion. In case you still don't understand, here's an (not perfect) example entry I made for myself. Remember, this is just one approach.
Introversion
Moses Sumney's Dwell in the Dark
You grew up and grew in and swallowed the spite.
Despite how I act on ATRL, I'm a pretty introverted person offline. It's hard to talk to people and I find it easier to be alone. According to Moses Sumney's last.fm bio, it says that "[g]rowing up, he was so shy that he would write songs avidly but hide them inside his mattress." That and this song are two things I can entirely relate to. A lot of the time, I'm alone, dwelling in the dark.
Coming of Age
Sufjan Steven's Now That I'm Older
There's so much travel; now that I'm older, someone else can see it for myself.
This is a song that's very personal to me. In the past couple years, I've really felt the transition from teenager to young adult. The adult world is really scary to me, and it just feels like time is slipping through my fingers. Some people are eager to grow up, and at times I am too, but how good is it really? Am I just inching closer to inevitable death? I often turn this song on when I have these thoughts.
Happiness
Hiatus Kaiyote's Molasses
It could be a compass, rare and so bountiful.
This is probably my favorite song ever. Despite all the depressing stuff, I can also be a very happy and fun person. This song perfectly encapsulates that. The song's refrain of "might not get any better" sums up life for me; things might not get any better, but it's still worth it to keep going on.
This is all due in my inbox only (Tymps.) by 10 PM EST on July 9th!
If any song throughout the contest isn't on YT for whatever reason, can you link it to Spotify?
You can link it from any source you want, and it doesn't have to be embedded either. However, just make sure judges don't have to be looking all of your songs up, they should be linked somehow.
