Well, well, well. Two Endurance players and its host are all in my tribe. This is sweet! I like the names of all the tribes. Water is so refreshing. *drinking from a water bottle* Ah. How can a Flame survive underwater tho? Can't wait for the first challenge.
Welcome castaways to Round 1 of Survivor: ATRL Edition (Season 5)! Now that tribes are set, it's time to commence game-play. This is your first shot to prove yourself as a player, and for one of you, it will be your last. Let's get started!
The theme for Round 1 is...
Girl Power ~You must talk so big to make up for smaller things~
As members of ATRL, you're sure to have noticed that the site mainly deals with our favorite female popstars and other rising starlets. So, I decided to start off with a reasonable theme that will hopefully get you guys off to a good start. Your song selection should be a song that lyrically encourages female empowerment. Your song can tackle double standards, rally women up to speak out against discrimination, openly support gender equality, etc.
What To Do:
Once your song is selected, PM me the artist and title of your song. You don't have to include a link to the song unless you are sending a specific version of it. There's no explanation needed as your song should speak for itself. If your song requires an explanation to make sense, it's not a good fit.
Also, there are 24 of you playing the game. You guys are bound to submit the same songs at some point and because no one can occupy the same song, I encourage you to send a back-up choice along with your first pick.
Take Into Consideration:
The panel will judge the audio/lyrics of the track you submit. Music videos will not increase or decrease your score as some music video plots differ from a song's true meaning.
The theme is what is important here. You will not receive a low score because you sent in a song one of the judges does not like. Taste will most likely only be the determinate in whether you receive for example a 8.5 or 9.
The song you choose should display the meaning upfront. An interview with your artist clarifying the meaning of the song will not be taken into consideration.
Judging Scale (May Vary By Judge):
9/10 - Great entry. Track displays the theme given head on.
8 - Good entry. Displays theme well but not as well as others.
7 - Okay entry. Fits decently but is missing something overall.
6 - Somewhat tackles the theme but falls flat.
5 - Track mentions theme but is otherwise off-base.
3/4 - Song does not hit the theme given.
1/2 - Song has to do with a completely different subject than the theme.
I will supply an example for each round for you all to take inspiration from. Obviously no one can select this song as their entry.
The example for this round is "Can't Hold Us Down" by Christina Aguilera feat. Lil Kim off her sophomore studio album 'Stripped'. Lyrically, the song encourages female empowerment by tackling double standards that are set out against women such as allowing men to be sexual beings while women are shamed.
Quote:
If you look back in history
It's a common double standard of society
The guy gets all the glory the more he can score
While the girl can do the same and yet you call her a whore
The deadline for this round is May 30th at 4:00 PM US PST Timezone. Here is a countdown for those of you in different timezones.
