Here's this year's #2, Miranda Lambert's Automatic. I fell in love with the song for the first time when I decided to listen to her album (it was a totally random decision). II haven't stopped playing the song since that moment. The moment I REALLY fell in love with the song was however when I packed my stuff in my room (so it wouldn't be as messy as it had been for 4 years before), it was also after I finished high school so naturally I found lots of random things like letters from classes (hihi), photos and other stuff that reminded me of my friends and the I spent there. Since I loved going there Automatic - of course - got a big push and whenever I listen to it tons of memories come to my mind even if I only got to know the song close to the end of my senior year. The song was the main contender for #1 until a few weeks ago
Out of all the albums I heard in 2014, Platinum was easily the best. From Girls to Another Sunday In The South everything is great (with a few exceptions like Little Red Wagon, All That's Left or Old Sh!t, but those don't go below 'good' either). The absolute highlights of the album all appeared on the countdown: 'Automatic', 'Platinum' and 'Bathroom Sink'. Probably the biggest departure from her previous album Four The Record is shown in the lyrics of several songs. As Miranda herself mentioned her humor and wit are more bold on this album than they were before ('Priscilla' and 'Gravity Is a Bitch' are good examples for this. The bad ass persona she's always had stayed too ('Somethin' Bad' shows that the best) then we also have a softer side like 'Girls'(to a certain degree), 'Holding On To You', Smokin' and Drinkin'or the last song 'Another Sunday In The South'. Overall, she has found the perfect balance for everything she has done in the past without making the album feel like a second rate version of previous efforts. Platinum is the perfect continuation for an already impressive discography. I can't wait to hear what she has in the bag next time!
Something About "Give Me Back My Hometown"

I honestly don't know where to start with this song as I love every second of it! I can't name a favorite part as I love how the beginning starts quite chilled then somewhere in the middle the drums REALLY kick in or the ending which is only "ooooh" but the dreams are still going strong. I also looooooooove the lyrics because they are very, very, very true. It's really in every single object/moment we have and he really proves that by just mentioning simple things from a common weekday/weekend. This relatability gave Give Me Back My Hometown that slight edge that would make me put it over Automatic.
So, I'm disappointed by your list because WHERE IS BUDAPEST BY GEORGE EZRA? You like the alternative rock wave (as I've seen Coldplay here). So, yeah. I was waiting for that song.

I listened to Give Me Back My Hometown since I saw it here and I liked it,
I was surprised though because I thought Eric Church had more of a rock sound than country
I need a lot more country songs to cross over in 2015!
Especially Kacey Musgraves, Jamie Lynn Spears, Sam Hunt, and Mickey Guyton
