This is basically slaying without any major media presence other than radio, she needs to perform it on Ellen or Kimmel to give it another push.
What's behind this song's radio success? It's a cute song, but it seems so strange for pop radio to latch onto an R&B song of a relatively unknown female singer. Does she have big connections or buzz?

Either way, happy for her
I don't get it either. I am happy for her but even Kelly and Ciara wouldn't be able to do this with such a song because it's too urban for pop. Maybe radio was ready for a Whitney sample.

How? The song sounds like a pop/dance song and even samples two '80s pop songs. Here's the other one:
It also features someone who had a crossover hit last year. It could easily be a Pitbull or Flo Rida dance song with Natalia featured on the chorus. It's not surprising that pop radio has been more receptive to it than urban radio.

I get that it has pop elements, but it's obviously an R&B leaning song with the production and singing style. I love that pop radio is embracing it, it just seems odd as in the past few years R&B influenced songs haven't done well by lesser known female artists.

I get what you're saying too, but I think the song leans a lot more towards pop/dance. This really could have been a Flo Rida or Pitbull single. They also pushed it towards pop before urban so I guess that helped. I think Sevyn Streeter could have done the same with "It Won't Stop," but I guess they didn't aim high for it because they didn't expect much for a new black female artist.
