Exactly what era of Madonna's are you arguing was bigger than Mariah's? Because G0D went on a sold out world tour (where she snagged the record for fastest sellout and most attendance of the Tokyo Dome) during hers. She did only 6 dates, in AUS, ASIA, & EUR, due to contractual hindrances, but they were all successful. She had the 30M selling album, the successful singles, the 15M selling Xmas comp. I'm just trying to figure out in what way, shape, or form any Madonna era competes even if you include touring.
I don't think you guys really get it. Between album sales, single sales, acclaim and awards, touring, and chart peaks...you'd be very, very hardpressed to name an era that was bigger than Music Box/Merry Christmas. This is not rocket science, reaching, or stan bias, it's just true.
Why does it bother you guys so much to hear it? To see someone say x, y, or z, had a bigger peak than Madonna? Madonna has never had that only girl in the world, huge, huge, huge era. Britney had a bigger peak. Whitney had a bigger peak. Celine had a bigger peak. It's even arguable that Lady Gaga had a bigger peak (ofc this is a completely different era and whatnot), but you get my drift.
Celine has sold more albums than Madonna, Rolland.
I wonder if that fact is the reason why the crypt keepers use the term "records" when claiming Madge to be the most successful female artist.

The amount of records sold by Madonna in 20 years, Mariah sold in just 10 years. Mariah has the bigger peak of the two. Madonna has more consistency and longevity tho.
Mariah has more chart success. She has more #1's than Madonna, longer (including the longest, dahhling!) running #1's, and two "Song of the Decade" titles.
