Longlists will be revealed on Monday, and from those we vote on the nominations. The final nominees will be revealed during the live nominations concert on December 12.
On that note: Last year, the longlists were only comprised of the top submissions for each category. Some members didn't like that, so I might change it this year. Do you all think I should include every album/song/artist submitted to a category instead, or should I just keep the same longlists process?
I'm getting ready to reveal the longlists tomorrow and I have received almost 40 votes! That's amazing for the submissions stage. Thank you so much to everyone who sent ballots.
I've decided to define the rap/sung category as songs that are primarily rapped with a hook that is sung, which will send songs with only a featured rapper to their respective genre categories. I wouldn't normally do it this way, but that seems to be the Grammys' approach this year. (Please raise any objections if you disagree!)
I'm still trying to figure out two things, however:
1. Whether to include songs that came out in the last eligibility period, were submitted to the ATRL Grammys but not nominated, and have been submitted to the actual Grammys this year.
2. Whether to include all submissions on the longlists or present only the top submissions in each category for voters to pick the final nominees.
I'm looking to be swayed at this point, so please share your thoughts!
I say just the top submissions for the longlists. If something only got one vote in the submission phase, it's not going to make it to the nomination stage anyways.
Just to explain a bit more, my original thinking was that some of the categories get so many submissions it's overwhelming for the voter. Record and Song of the Year, for example, both have more than 80, but many of those just got a single vote. So just using the top submissions makes it more manageable and is more representative of serious nominees. But I hear the argument that an expanded list could account for songs people forgot the first time around, which is why I'm so split on it.
Oh welp I just realised the ballots are over. But oh well, I think it's hard for me to think of stuff for each category out of the many possibilities out there. Excited for the longlists!
Maybe just leave out the submissions that only got one, maybe two votes? It's unlikely that that many people forgot about that entry.

What do top submissions consist of?
Maybe you can only remove all the ones with only 1 vote if that shortens the list a bit.
