Why is that America is numb to school shootings, college shootings, young black men dying at the hands of people who are supposed to protect them, movie theatre shootings, etc etc but every time something about ISIS or a disease that's been around for a while comes on tv, they put people in a panic?

Why am I all of a sudden being asked on websites to pledge money to companies to find a cure for Ebola now? While it's one of the most clicked on, reported subjects in the media?

Can't you people see we are being fooled? If it's that easy to do it, you don't think an organization with actual means to physically control us such as the military isn't doing it either?

It's not that we disapprove of having a national defense. it's about a) how we use that national defense. b) blindly treating them with respect even though many of them have done evil things that aren't deserving of even common courtesy.

If we were to do things differently, it doesn't mean we couldn't fight if we had to. We have the most nuclear weapons. If we left everybody alone and someone decided to seek revenge (more than likely rightfully so) all it would take is the lift of a finger. Not that I agree we should do that but if we had to, it's necessary.

But instead we continue to be the big, evil bully.

Once America became the most powerful nation in the world, (by means of genocide etc) we could have showed people that we are about making the world better by helping other countries. Instead, we fight for more power and control. We invade and we kill innocent people.

If excusing that is as simple as "Billy did it too" or "Boys will be boys" to you, then... nvm.

Essentially, America became the most powerful by absolutely horrific means and we have nothing to show for it. As time went on we could have been like, yeah our ancestors did some awful **** but we took what they offered us and we turned it into something good. But we've just worsened.

I went to those villages with my fellow soldiers and we ran off the Taliban that were harassing them, hurting their children and women and killing their men.

We got their thanks and appreciation before we left. Their thanks was all we needed.
