Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Melrose Place cast will be in September issue of InStyle
The September issue of InStyle features the hot young things of the new Melrose Place dishing on the show’s sure-to-be juicy drama. The photoshoot was inspired by ’90s magazine tears, including the iconic 1994 Rolling Stone cover featuring Laura Leighton, Josie Bissett and Heather Locklear—the original cat-fighting tenants of the now-infamous apartment complex. Check out the behind-the-scenes video to get the new cast’s take on ’90s fashion trends that should never return (hint: crimped hair!) and catch the first episode of the show on September 8th on the CW.

Ashlee Simpson answers about Violet Foster
In a new interview with People Magazine, Ashlee Simpson Wentz spills some details about her new role in the highly anticipated revival of the prime time soap “Melrose Place.” Simpson-Wentz said this about her character. “She is a little weird,” “I have a so-called innocent side, but I think it’s just the persona that I’m giving to people. I’m only setting people up.”
When asked to describe her new Melrose character she had this to say. “Her name is Violet and she’s new to Melrose Place, new to L.A., looking for a family member — looking for any kind of family, looking for love. She’s really not accepted — not just yet. I think that’s something interesting, to play the outsider.” Although the character seems sweet she has some unattractive qualities. “obsessing over things and people,” says the actress. “Anyone that’s willing to be like, ‘I’ll help you out,’ she finds an obsession with them.”
Simpson-Wentz who has strong family ties in her own life, not only with her parents and famous big sis, Jessica Simpson, but also with her new husband, guitarist from “Fall Out Boy” Pete Wentz. Wentz and Simpson also have a son together, Bronx Mogali Wentz. Ashlee says her character isn’t so lucky. Violet is “desperate for family, desperate for love, desperate to connect,” says the actress of her new character. “In a way she looks up to Ella, played by Katie (Cassidy), because she’s got it together from the outside. She sees that and she’s like ‘How am I ever going to fit in this town and place?”
Ashlee has said that she is very excited to be apart of the new series. She’s not spilling the details but what she could say is “There’s a lot of jaw-droppers on the show that we obviously can’t give away but it does get crazy.” Although Ashlee isn’t old enough to have been a fan of the original “Melrose Place” she did say that she hopes to “bring the old audience back and also start a new one, one of our generation because we just missed the boat on “Melrose Place.”
When ask about all the steamy love scenes the actress had this to say “I had said, ‘I haven’t had to make out with anybody.’ Then I just found today that you’ll see who I have to make out with in episode six!” In case you are wondering what her rocker hubby has to say about all of this Simpson-Wentz isn’t worried about it. Saying “My husband is a huge supporter,” she exclaimed. “He’s seen the pilot and loved it and was excited for me.” You can catch “Melrose Place” on the CW network Tuesdays starting September 8th.
