Celeb News: Emma watson on Beyonce's sexuality and feminism

I just find it amazing that Beyonce calls herself a feminist When her whole career was plotted by men. From her music to her image. She was tamed to be a sex doll selling women ilusional ideals of perfection while saying Its Okay to be who you are and to look the way you do. Her whole persona is a marketing business that is doing really really well because people are still buying into it. The sole fact everybody feels an imperial instinct about her being the Queen speaks volumes about how blind people are by Beyonces idealism. An idealism created by men to ensure that women acknowledge Beyonce as the standart of what a woman should be.

She didn't lie. Beyonce presents herself as an object for mens' sexual pleasure and mocks domestic abuse in her lyrics, I don't really get it either.

While I do think Emma kinda misunderstood Bey's message, she kinda didn't lie with that quote in the OP.
Of course, Bey is allowed to express her sexuality in any way she chooses. But the FACT of the matter is that when a straight guy looks @ her VMA performance, they're not thinking "Omg she's such a strong woman!!1!!!! She owns her sexuality!!11!!!!!". A lot of them are just paying attention to the ass. When straight men watch the Partition video, with Bey dancing on a stripper pole and Jay just sitting there watching with a cigar, do you honestly think they're paying attention to her being a strong woman? And sure, she's allowed to do that for her husband, but I'm just saying, it's not doing anything to destroy those stereotypes. And the VMA performance wasn't for her husband, it was for millions.
I definitely understand Bey's message because I'm able to look at it in an unbiased way since I'm not attracted to her. But I can't say the same for straight men. And if someone like Emma is from the outside looking in, I can see how she would be conflicted. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But I understand what Bey's intentions are and she does try to strike a balance on the album.

Bye bye she was doing that back in the early 2000's with DC, excluding Nasty Girl. Hell, 3X Bills was earlier and she was speaking for men thinking they could **** with woman and it would be okay.

I don't get how she's critiquing Bey's feminism. Did she not praise BEYONCÉ in the last sentence?

A trend? She's been for women since the age of 16. She brought the word feminist to the forefront and came out and said, Yes, I AM A FEMINIST something that many shy away from or are afraid to admit. So if anyone jumped on this "trend" as you like to call it, it would be the others.
I mean aren't you all the ones who say you're sick of her female empowerment songs?

!!
Exactly. Thats why she's the most culturally relevant artist today (along with Gaga). Not everyone will be comfortable or agree with their ideologies but hell they are forcing a potent conversation to the fore front. This is the stuff legends are made of. They're cultural stimulants.

This sounds exactly what a white feminist would say.

Feminism is about men and women having the same opportunities. Somehow these popstars and actresses have made it all about finding an excuse to get naked cuz they don't have the balls to just do it

yeah, this is basically why i don't think she should be completely brushed off. i don't think people realize that people in society very much hold stereotypes and that can really inhibit the message you send to them. it's not fair, but it's reality. if people get any message at all from the sexual actions i really think it's gonna be more along the lines of "oh she's so butch" or something like that. i think a lot of people don't realize that you need to accommodate for the prejudices people hold or you're never going to get your point across to them.

Last time I checked, Tumblr didn't exist when GLOBAL smash hit Independent Woman was released in 2000. Actions speak louder than words.
