It's more comparable than you think. HS topped iTunes too.

I would say it roughly appeals to the same type of people who would've really liked Happy.

HS got almost no radio support and AATB isn't smashing solely because it went viral like HS did. People just really like it. It's proving more staying and actual selling power than HS ever did.

1) It's not that catchy.
2) The song is way too light, fluffy, silly & peppy to be discussing such a serious topic. It doesn't seem thoughtful. If you're going to cover serious topics do it the right way, like Same Love.
3) The chorus is annoying, depreciating the song's replay value.
4) The last minute or so is just so repetitive and drawn out. Especially those cringeworthy "HEY"s!

I disagree with this. What's a better way to get a message across than through a catchy, bouncy song that will be stuck in the minds of others? It doesn't lack thought in the slightest, in fact I think it's rather applaud-able for the way it is constructed and the message it effectively gets out.

Black Widow going top 5! Congrats Iggy and Rita

To be honest, there don't seem to be many songs climbing the charts well in general that could be future top 10 hits in the next few weeks, let alone #1. Only Jeremih, Tove Lo, Bobby Shmurda, Katy Perry off the top of my head.

Waves or Stolen Dance is going to slay eventually too

ALL OVER THIS POST
Same Love is arguably the worst song Macklemore has ever done. The cheesiest damn lyrics over an atrocious beat and his worst rapping he's ever done. There's a reason people hate him and why critics laugh at Macklemore.
It's 100% your opinion on the chorus. I personally LOVE it. The verses get caught in my head more than the chorus but maybe that's 'cause I've heard the song so much.
Also the song is 50s styled. Technically it should end at around the 2-2:30 mark but since radio wouldn't likely play it they dragged it on. Do you even understand the style?

Going with some early predictions...
1. All About That Bass (=)
2. Shake It Off (=)
3. Anaconda (=)
4. Bang Bang (=)
5. Black Widow (=)
6. Break Free (+2)
7. Stay With Me (-1)
8. Maps (+1)
9. Rude (-2)
10. Rather Be (+2)
Praying to God that Rather Be can make it to at least #10! It deserves it SO much! Next week it has a great chance.

I don't think so. It already started decreasing on radio and is only #15 on Spotify.

Positive? How is a song about having a fat ass supposed to be uplifting? Megan is calling out thin people for being skinny...sounds like jealousy to me, umm hmm!
Megan need to do some lunges, n' tone that bass...tone that bass...it's worth the trouble!

My God
I've never seen a more pressed soul in my life. Can't wait till Dear Future Husband becomes her second #1 and I see you perched in the thread whining about what a horrible song it is
