Some people in this thread are the reason that people like me have bulimia tendency. I'm slightly overweight and no it isn't related to bad diet or not working out. It is because of the medication I had to take in my childhood due to health conditions, they made me gain a lot of weight - I used to be skinny.
It's not all about working out and eating healthy. Yes, most cases are because of those but there are people like me who have a few extra pounds (due to genetics, diseases etc.) and still get bullied about it.
If a person is like 20 pounds overweight it's not a huge deal but once you're 100+ pounds overweight then I don't think it's alright and a person shouldn't be happy that way because it's unhealthy and makes it difficult to accommodate their large size wherever they go.
I agree, there's a limit.
I also agree with people talking about genetics because some people just naturally have bigger structures and lower metabolisms than others. Most people who are extremely fat are just lazy and eat a lot though.

You become fat when you consume more calories than you expend, so it's a clear indicator of a person's unhealthy lifestyle. Of course there are exceptions (genetics, diabetes, etc.), but I'm simply talking about fatness/being overweight. I don't think that this kind of unhealthy lifestyle should be advocated when it can lead to more pressing long-term issues such as cardiovascular diseases and blood pressure complications.
Personally I used to be overweight because I would binge on every single thing in the kitchen out of depression and anxiety. When I realised what I was doing to my body I immediately stopped, and now I barely eat out of fear of being fat again. The thought of fat makes me sick.
He's not comparing those traits. He's comparing the reasoning behind shaming and yes, there are parallels.
being gay is natural and it's something that you can't change, people make themselves fat by overeating unhealthy food that the body is not design to consume and you can make the choice to change your lifestyle and get back to your natural size.

Both the bigger structures and lower metabolisms excuses are myths.
If they're happy, why should anyone else care? It's somebody else's body.
Maybe that obese person is somebody's mother, father, brother, sister, friend....
Or they also should say 'hey, why should I care that my mom's veins are being clogged with fat and that she might have a heart attack any minute...it's her body'

People throwing the world "its unhealthy" without even knowing what a healthy or unhealthy weight is. There are worse things then being fat. Like being a **** who body shames other people.

No, it's not. Their are those who are of a bigger build. Being "fat" is not something that should be wrong. Its when your weight is severely affecting your health, is when you must make a change.
My other main problem is when parents feed their child all sorts of crap and lead them to a stage that is very unhealthy. Kids as young as 4/5 who are so severely overweight is such a sad sight to see.
It's OK to be healthy, whatever that might mean for your body. Some people are just fine with a body that some might consider overweight, others are not.
The important thing is not to smoke, do drugs, etc and maintain a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet, as little stress as possible and plenty of exercise (both mental and physical).
Is it OK to be "whatever you want to be" regardless of whether it will impact your health or not? Well it's your body, but welcome to a reduced life expectancy!
