Attack of the Ambition: Top 80 Songs (70-66)
I'm trying to figure out what Bart's #1 is now. Damnit. Thanks to everyone who has replied so far. YOU are the people who make posting this worth it.
Now, remember when I said the next block would feature the most mainstream song on the list? You'll see that I wasn't kidding.

Yep, your eyes are not deceiving you. That IS a Britney Spears song on my top songs list. And no, it's not 2000. Last time I checked, this is the year 2008, and I still listen to the same awesome stuff that you're accustomed to seeing me promote and recommend. The reason why a Britney song is actually on the list in 2008 is...well, because it's good. After the amount of upbeat and frenzied songs that I listened to from Britney's Circus before this song, to say that this song was a nice little break is an understatement, and the vocals are actually pretty nice. Well, for Britney, anyway. Besides, this song could wind up actually meaning something to me, if it isn't that way already, and any song that goes beyond its normal meaning for yours truly is truly a special one.

"I'LL BE THERE WAIIITING." One of the more beautiful openings to any song this year accompanies yet another crazy, insane song from the masters of said crazy, insane songs. Honestly, when it comes to TMV, if you've listened to anything from their past albums, then you know what to expect from them on any forthcoming song: wild vocals, crazy music, and a message that makes zero sense. This song is more reminiscent of their past work than most of the other songs on The Bedlam in Goliath, and it's nice to hear at least one song recognize its roots. Of course, the song breaks down into a hot mess, as can be expected with The Mars Volta, and it's awesome, but is it wrong that I actually enjoy the softer area of the song more?

Yes! Salute your mother****ing solution! A frantic, fast-paced tempo accompanies even more frantic and wild vocals on one of the better songs that The Raconteurs have ever made. This song alone got me excited for their latest album, and, considering that it took me a long time to truly appreciate what The Raconteurs were doing, the fact that one song got me so interested in hearing a new album of theirs is pretty awesome stuff.

Ah, Scars on Broadway. While most of the music listening world ignored them and decided to let them rot in music purgatory, I found something distinctly special within the band. I was always a Daron Malakian basher, even in the days when Daron was in System of a Down, and especially during the Hypnotize and Mezmerize days, when he took more and more of the spotlight away from System's leader, Serj Tankian. However, had I known that his efforts would eventually bring us Scars on Broadway, I would have asked him to do more to put himself in the spotlight. "Enemy" is most notable for its beautiful funk riff/arrangement and its catchy chorus: "I know it's really hard to see that we are the enemy of the Earth." Fun, fun times.

This is Brandon Flowers' tour de force. That's all that I really need to say, but I do feel that I should mention that Brandon's vocals have never been better than they are on this song. The music is epic, but not overbearingly so, and not to the point where it overshadows Flowers, when this is clearly supposed to be his song and his song alone. Even if you don't like this song, you have to appreciate the vocals, if nothing else. This may go down as one of my favorite Killers singles, and they have a lot of good ones. Honestly, this should be MUCH higher than it is.

65-61 will, more than likely, be up later today. If not, it will, certainly, be up tomorrow. Did you guys say "free money"?!

I really need to listen to Circus.
Hooray for Mars Volta, Raconteurs, Scars on Broadway, and The Killers.

Brit-Brit, The Killers, The Raconteurs and The Mars Volta each chose a portion of my ass to kick as a result of this List.
Scars on Broadway got no ass time.

That Britney track isn't bad. You won't see it anywhere near my chart but it isn't quite that bad. The others are typically solid.

I'm not surprised that if you were to pick any Britney single at all to be on your chart, the track I have always considered the best off "Circus", Unusual You, is the one. It really is a great song.
And obviously - Raconteurs is awesome. And The Killers! But you are right sir, it should be much higher.
