12. Carrie Underwood

Actually I’m not a big fan of country music (this genre is one of my least favorite genre in music).. But she is one of the most consistent contestant ever in American Idol.. She can do rock, pop, dance, etc.. She is one of my favorite in this season, and America got right when she was declared as the Winner.. Simon said that she will be the contestant that sold the most records, and he is true.. She is more successful post-idol, with many awards and outstanding selling album.. But like I said before, I don’t really like country, that’s why she only at no. 12 in my list.. Though I still like her..

11. Melinda Doolitle

The most humble contestant.. This is my impression of her.. Even she only finished in the 3rd position in season 6, but she is one of the best contestant in that season.. Even Simon admit it.. What I like about her that she always didn’t realize that she is good,, That’s a good thing because that is humble personality.. She also got a big voice.. It’s a pity that she is not success after idol.. But for me she is one of the best.. Her rendition of :My Funny Valentine” in semifinal is one of the best performance ever In AI

10. Carly Smithson

When I first saw her in audition, I fell in love with her.. She sang “I’m Every Woman” almost perfect in Season 7 audition.. I believe she will go far in this competition.. And my predition almost true.. She through to the Final 12 smoothly.. It is like she is the best woman contestant in that season.. She got a powerful and great voice.. But sometimes she made a wrong song choice.. That’s why she falls apart sometimes.. Her elimination is one of the shocking one.. She only finished in 6th place, after a great performance in Andrew Lloyd Webber singing “Superstar”.. It’s kinda unfair.. But That’s the way it is.. I hope she will be more successful with her album that released this year..

9. Blake Lewis

The season 6 Runner-up, Blake Lewis is my choice at no. 9.. I like him because he is unique.. He can beat box and sometimes put that skill into his performance.. The result is amazing.. He is not only singing, but he is also entertaining.. He has not got a big voice like the other finalists in season 6 (such as Jordin Sparks, Melinda Doolitle, or Lakisha Jones) but he cover that with his stage act.. It was great to see him until finale.. Maybe he was flop with his debut album compare with Jordin (of course). But he is one of my favorite contestant ever..

Favorite Performance: You Give Love a Bad Name, Time of The Season, Virtual Insanity

8. Katharine Mcphee

For my opinion, she is the most beautiful woman contestant ever in American Idol.. She is not only pretty, but she can sing.. Even she is not the best vocalist and the most consistent contestant, but her factor X, makes her go far.. That make me love her too.. She is just like an anger..lol.. Her life after Idol is not really spectacular.. Her album sold mediocre, but at least she ogt a hit song such as Over it or Love Story.. If she has a big voice and consistent every performance, no wonder she will be on the top of my list..

Favorite Performance: Somewhere Over The Rainbow, Black Horse and The Cherry Tree, Someone to Watch Over Me

7. Michael Johns

He is one of my most favorite contestant in the season 7 from the very beginning.. He has a strong audition, and his voice is so great.. That’s why I’m rooting for him.. And week every week, I like him more and more.. I thought he will be through this journey of American Idol smoothly.. But in the top 8, one of the biggest upset of the show happened.. He was eliminated.. I’m so shocked to see that.. And I thought that maybe because people think he will be save every round, so he had less votes.. He didn’t deserve to go that fast, because he is a great performer..

6. Kris Allen

He is the current American Idol from season 8.. And he is the only Season 8 contestant in this top 12.. I don’t know him from the first time this season start.. His audition and Hollywood week performance was not published.. So I don’t know him until Top 36.. when he sang “Man in The Mirror”, I think he will be one of my favorite contestant.. But I still thought that he won’t be go far.. Week after week, I always love his performance.. Very original and awesome.. His voice is not the best, but so pure from his heart, that’s why Kara said that when he singing he make a personal contact with the audience.. and that’s true.. That’s why I’m rooting him the most.. as the underdog, he accomplished very outstanding job..

Favorite Performance: Heartless, Ain’t No Sunshine, Falling Slowly

5. Elliot Yamin

He is the second runner-up in Season 5.. And for me he is one of the best vocalist in the show ever.. His voice is soooo damn great.. And he also consistent in the show.. Coming as an underdog in a season that have much talented contestant, she made it through to the top 3.. And he almost made it to the final with a small difference vote with the other 2 ontestant (Taylor Hicks and Katharine Mcphee).. Even though the is not the winner, but his first album sold well..

Favorite Performance: A Song For You, It Had to Be You, I don’t Want to Be

4. David Archuleta

Even though he is so young compared with other contestants in season 7, but he got a big talent.. Have a nice voice and nice personality make people like him.. Like my other favorites, I like him since the very beginning.. When he sang Waiting on the World to Change by John Mayer.. He got a likeable voice.. And he has a great run in the competition too.. He is not only success in the competition, but after competition too.. His album and single are well received, and make him one of the most successful runner-up ever.. you go Archie..

3. Kelly Clarkson

The only contestant in this top 12 that coming from season 1 –season 3 (yup, it means there are no contestant from season 2 or 3 here..) Maybe I’m not following American Idol in season 1.. But since he is the most popular contestant in American Idol history, so I look back to her performance.. And I must say that she is amazing.. She has no competition in that season.. Because she had a very big and great vocal.. No wonder she became the winner and success in career after idol.. She can through my top 3 because of what she do during and after idol..

Favorite Performance: Respect, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, A Moment Like This

2. David Cook

The winner of American Idol Season 7, David Cook, is come at the runner-up on my list.. He is My most favorite winner of American Idol so far (looking from the show).. He is so original and have an amazing performance week by week.. He became the dark horse from the beginning of the show.. And unexpectedly he became judges favorite in this entire season because of his performances.. Having a great vocal and performance makes him through the journey of American Idol with no appearance in the bottom 3 or 2 along with David Archuleta.. And this season finale is my favorite of all.. His debut album is good too.. And until now, I still like him..

Favorite Performance: Billie Jean, Always Be My Baby, I Don't Want to Miss a Thing

1. Chris Daughtry

Yup, we are at the top spot, and the no. 1 for my favorite American Idol contestant ever is not the winner or the runner-up on the show, even not the contestant that finished at the 3rd place.. It is Chris Daughtry.. From the audition, I felt that I will love this contestant and rooting for him.. And my prediction is true, but I love him even more.. I like all of his performances from the beginning until the last one.. In the top 4, he was eliminated, and it think this is the biggest upset ever in the show.. He surely should go to the final and be the winner (not that Taylor Hicks, and I’ve just realized that all the top 4 from season 5 are in my list except the winner itself, Taylor lol).. But his career after Idol is more brightening.. His album sold more than 4 million copies in USA alone.. This good for him. He doesn’t need the title.. Great job Chris!!!

5. Adam Lambert

This is the contestant with the most spectacular range voice.. First time I saw him in audition, I knew that he will go far, and it’s true.. He is one of the best contestant in the season, but sometimes overrated praise from judges makes me sick.. It makes me little bit bored.. But still, he is one of my favorite in this season..

Favorite Performance: Mad World, Track of the Tears

4. Megan Joy

One of the most unique vocal in the show.. I love her since the audition, it is one of my favorite audition ever.. Her stage act and voice reminds of Amy Winehouse.. It is a good thing because I love Amy.. One thing I like about her is that she is so beautiful

.. But her performance always weak.. That’s why she cannot long lasting in the competition.. If she make a great song choice and sing it like her audition, no wonder she’ll be one of the strongest competitor..

Favorite Performance: Put Your Records On, Walking After Midnight

3. Danny Gokey

Even though many people hate him because of his fake personality, but I love his voice.. His voice is so awesome.. He can sing everything, from dance, ballad, soul, etc (even though his scream in rock week is bad..lol) But you can’t deny that this man has a good vocal.. In the beginning I thought he will be in the final, but he didn’t give charisma even he is consistent in the show.. Still he is one of my favorite.. I see that he will be the next Elliot Yamin

Favorite Performance: Kiss From a Rose, You Are So Beautiful, P.Y.T,

2. Matt Giraud

This contestant is not my favorite in the beginning, but since Hollywood week, I’m rooting for him.. He got a soulful voice and I like it.. Like the judges said, he had a touch of Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke, 2 of my favorite male artists.. I saw that he get much potential.. Even American not really rooting for him (2 times eliminated is the prove) but he is the only one contestant that had saved from elimination, not once, but TWICE! Lol.. One thing that I don’t like about him is he lacks of confidence.. That makes him not good enough to be the AI.. But for me he is awesome..

5. How Sweet It Is? (To be Loved By You)

Performing in Motown week, maybe it is not too hard for Kris, because he have soft voice and fit with Motown.. The result is very nice performance.. As Kara said that he did it originally and make this song not Marvin Gaye’s or James Taylor’s but it is Kris Allen’s.. He owns it.. This performance makes him to be one of the front runner in the show

4. She Works Out For The Money

He performed this in Disco Night.. First I thought this night will be a disaster night for him, because this is not his kind of music.. I just wondering that Kris will sing the dance song, and I thought It would be bad.. But when he performed, he sing one of the famous dance song and turns it to acoustic.. Shoot, it was very brilliant.. What a great performance of him.. This is his strength when turns all the music to fit with him and make it very original.. Well done Kris..

3. Falling Slowly

In the Movie Soundtrack night, he sang one of the unpredictable song choice.. It’s taken from Once soundtrack that had an Oscar for Original Score.. I love this song, and when he start to sang that, I’m so thrilled.. With his soft, calm but controlled voice, he sang it very well.. He sang it with passion and it’s brilliant.. My favorite contestant sang one of my favorite song, Awesome!!

2. Ain’t No Sunshine

He sang this song twice, in Itunes week and the finale.. Both were outstanding.. When the first time he sang it, it is one of the best performance in the season 8.. It is so soulful.. He changed the arrangement and it is a great idea.. And then he sang it in Finale.. First I thought singing one of the song that give a great moment before will be ruin if it sing it again.. But my thought was wrong.. The second one is more beautiful.. I had a goose bumps hearing that song.. I feel connected with this song when he sang the second time.. Nice Kris, Nice..

1. Heartless

And My most favorite Kris Allen performance is when he performed in the top 3.. When he sang the first song “Apologize”, I’m just so disappointed, because that was so plain and not different with the original.. But when he said that he will sing Heartless by Kanye for the second song, I’m so surprised, but I’m afraid it will be disaster like Archuleta sing With You by Chris Brown last year.. But when he start singing, my mouth open so widely.. He turn the hiphop song to an acoustic?? And it sounds very very awesome.. I still can’t believe that.. It is much better than Kanye’s (he is one of my favorite artist though..) He is just Brilliant! I just can’t say anything but bravo Kris.. After he sing that, I believe he can be the winner even as an underdog.. And it’s true.. Congratulation Kris Allen..
