Fun is such a sad song about brainwashing boys into becoming soldiers in the Middle East (Gaza)
First there are incentives why someone would to be a soldier: ‘Well don’t you wanna see the world boy, All the countries and their stars boy’
But then it gets dark and turns into actually killing people: ‘Just don’t look them in the eyes boy, You just gotta take their lives boy’
And the the worst part being told that you aren’t being lied to: ‘All you gotta do is trust that I’m being true’ 100% a lie, there’s nothing right about killing
Guilt trip: ‘Do it for the people who love you’
Then they are convinced that fighting would be fun and nothing to be afraid of ‘Let’s go have fun, You and me in the old jeep, Right around town with the rifles on the front seat, Fun you and me in the Middle E, Shooting at rocks, Bullets cocked in the midday’
Nothing like the reality of war
It’s expected that the boys will listen and know that going to war is the right thing to do ‘Son listen to what I tell you, You’ll see my son, Now you know what you gotta do’
But how do they know this? How do they know what they gotta do and how on earth should this be killing people
In case anyone isn’t convinced that the song is about war: ‘When your standing on the line boy, Don’t be looking for goodbye boy’ it’s incredibly sad really
'Yeah you know you gotta set the free boy, Coz you know that what they need boy'
Set them free as in kill them so they can go to heaven/whatever they believe comes after this life? Or set them free as in help prisoners from their side escape? I don’t know but either way people will get killed
What everyone wants - to make their family proud of them (well I guess this could also be aimed at a God or something) : ‘Yeah you’re gonna make them proud boy’
And then the reality, they often die in their quest to kill others: ‘Till they put you in the ground boy’
The worst part is this is what is actually happening around in our world, in the Middle East
Innocent people are being killed by soldiers who have been brainwashed into thinking killing is what they need to do
