Dynamics, trills, rubato. Everything Adele is lacking.
Simple? That can be debated. It was through composed and contrapuntal at times, nothing simple or generic about that. Try again.
Well, it seems you don't know Bach's Fugen.
Sure I can compare. SLY has nothing much to do with Pop Music of today, no it leans more to the best composer of Songs, Schubert. He wasn't the best because of his complex songwriting, sure he uses some effects, but no, mainly because he gave every single word a meaning in his songs, the same what Adele did with SLY, no rubato or thrills needed but have you seen the Brit rendition, dynamics she used like no one before her.
Songs about sucking dick isn't "daring" or "experimental."
Just because a song is about oral sex doesn't mean it can't be experimental and they don't even have to be experimental to be more appealing. I'd rather listen to How Many Licks 400 times in a row than listen to SLY one more time.
Without the sales, no one would be praising 21.
It's a cohesive album but extremely monotonous; no rise or fall. If one played the entire album without skipping, it can be misconstrued as one long song/set. But since AC radio is pretty bland and predictable, 21 found its perfect niche.
Another hypocritical mess... as if Kelly's TIRED pop-rock filler isn't boring AC fodder.

Trills* + I don't seem to know Bach because? Did I lie?
The lyrics were cute for SLY. Lyrics can't carry an entire album I'm afraid. We are critiquing pop discography not a poem.

Sorry, but Beyonce is not experimental.
Yes it is. Flawless*** + Blow are both modern day symphonies, I rarely hear song structures similar in pop music. Also, Opera melismas, over a hip hop track, with a feminist speech sampled over it. Do you not see the art and irony? Such an unorthodox blend. Beyoncé was not afraid to take risks and make contradiction. Adele on the other hand basic and safe & conventional in every way.

Meaning of words I mean the sounding ,pronunciation, - words, sound and meaning have the same status in Music (later with Bruckner even silence in a piece of music has the same status), here is Adele a master, Wagner wrote one hell of books about it.
To explain it to you, a student and a teacher in a master class, only difficulty maybe only Germans know what I mean.
You can't blame other people if you have lower standards.
The only reason why we are having this debate is because my standards are higher

Yes, it's as formulaic as a Katy/Rihanna record. Big-voiced female singing about relationship problems. People just pretended like it was amazing because the market was oversaturated with electropop.
