They were two big eras, one was more focussed on the artist, the other was more focussed on the singles. The Fame Monster was also promoting The Fame (album) and coming off a massive era on its own in The Fame, so I don't see why some Monsters feel like they have something to prove. They already won the The Fame vs. One Of The Boys battle, if you can call it that. But Teenage Dream was the bigger and more iconic era for the music. It's just as simple as that. It doesn't have to be a competition. It's okay to admit that their fave's extension EP with 3 singles wasn't as big as Katy's studio album plus reissue with 8 singles.

That receipt only proves how US-centric TD was, as you admit yourself. As someone who lives in the UK I can fully appreciate the magnitude of TFM against TD in a non-US country and on a global scale.
