Oh, get over SNL already. Even the US has... Yes the indie wave was catching up during that period but Lana was the one who actually made it with this type of music. Anyone who tried to make it with an indie song failed and faded quite fast (Gotye).
Lana's music is not standard pop. Anyone who claims otherwise is clearly deluded. Hardly any major popstar puts out a 5 minute midtempo about playing video games while singing in a jazzy tone.
And I never disrespected Bjork, I was just referring to the fact many people perceive her as pretentious just like Lana.
That's all I guess!

" Anyone who tried to make it with an indie song failed and faded quite fast (Gotye)" Adele? fun.? mumford and sons?
The whole point of the video games video was to make her seem like an indie starlet reminiscent of stars of the 50s and earlier, when really that entire image was constructed. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, I'm just saying that she was specifically moulded into a niche so she'd become viral and have success.
Video Games isn't standard pop (hence why I said it was one of her few good songs) but the rest of the songs on that album excluding off to the races to an extent follow the same tired, safe formula
