I don't imagine Gaga decided to do this with the hope of turning people on. It was intentionally revolting, in a song about rape.
It's just a big hot Gaga mess.... She's desperate, she's losing the thing she cherished most: ha fame. She'll do anything to become Lady Gaga again but it won't happen again. She needs to drop the artsy act and be the pop star everyone fell in love with.
There is no way in hell anyone can "win" this debate and it has nothing to do with Gaga or what she did.
What constitutes as "art" is a huge question that will forever be argued. You get people who only think something well crafted is "art" (i.e. showing talent/skill) and you have people who think the intent is key (i.e. it could be literally a room with nothing in it).
