I remember this kind of hype with "4" and that didn't turn out too well. I also remember how the SB did absolutely nothing for "MDNA". I think with PEPSI paying for everything, she'll get more promo, but as we all know, more promo does not equate to more sales. It's up to Beyonce to create catchy music. If she's planning on staying with the R&B sound, then I have no doubt in mind that the album will not sell well. EDM is the future, and Beyonce will have to exploit that if she wants this album to be the "most successful ever". With this kind of hype and backing, the album is being set up to fail. Because of all of this nonsense going on, if it doesn't open big and have massive longevity, it's going to look like a failure.
Well GMAYL did go top 10, but Pepsi wasn't sponsoring the MDNA era for Madonna

Lie #1. The 4 era hype was nothing like this. As you can see, this news is already dragging that era.

Lie #2. Madonna's SB hype was focused more on the single rather than the album as a whole. It might not have done much for it, but the song was a mess so a Gold certified Top 10 was good enough for her. If its one thing everyone knows, its that when Bey REALLY promotes good material, she sells. I'll ignore the rest of your post because its mostly opinions. Opinions you are forming with no idea of what Bey's album will sound like.
First single needs to be uptempo and pop-ish. I agree with some that it doesn't matter how big the promo is, the music needs to be catchy or it was for nothing and i say that about any pop star. Madonna's GMAYL sucked which is why it didn't have huge impact. If Bey picks the right first single, then it will be a great start to her era.
I hope peopel consider that this is just a wish, it's not an assertion because some monsters here are acting like Pepsi said "this era is going to be her best ever" in the "BTW is going to be the album of a generation" fashion.
No, they signed a 50 million deal with a singer for their campaign and decide to help her a little bit with her album. This is not the same scenario.
And when and how was "4" hyped that much? Cause all I remember is never getting official infos, a lead single leaking before they even announce a release date and complete Sony's silence and lack of promotion for a whole month and a half while the single was trashed and plummeting on Itunes.
