Pretty much. I mean if you truly care about someone then you would have done everything. And that mus be enough for people having suicidal thoughts to think twice. Most people end their lives because they think that they are alone in the trouble they are going through.

People who think it's selfish are morons, in my opinion. If someone wants to kill themselves, that is their choice. They shouldn't have to sit and think, "Well, should I live in agony and despair just so I don't upset my friends and family?" It's selfish to expect someone to stay alive just so others aren't sad.

Actually they should sit and think. Throwing your life away is a very serious decision.

Yes, it is very selfish. They are only thinking about themselves, not their families. IMO they should face the death penalty.

my opinion is unpopular but i stick with it. trust me, someone close to me commited suicide and they don't think of how it will hurt the people close to them.

When the death penalty was around there was a fear of being executed for your crimes, so there was barely any crimes going on.. now look what's happened

Calling suicide selfish doesn't help anybody or anything. People who are depressed have a mental illness and don't think rationally, and honesty, telling a suicidal person they're selfishn will make them feel worse.

Bottom line, don't expect somebody to think through a decision like suicide when they hate themselves and the world.

They think about it, but not rationally. Suicide isn't a rational response, unless its because of some chronic disease or something. Killing yourself because you're depressed may be "selfish", but calling the person selfish just makes the person feel worse because they'll continue to have suicidal thoughts.

Don't want somebody to kill themselves? Make them feel better, don't insult them.

I never said it will fix the problem We are just talking about whether committing suicide is selfish. This is not a thread discussing the prevention of suicide.
