I usually perfer to live in the "inner city" as there's usually more to do and see then out in the suburbs.

nobody takes cabs here, unless you're off to the airport (even then there's Skybus) or coming home from the city at the eerie hours of the morning. Around the city either take public transport or you'll have to get your own car.

I've been to Melbourne a few times, but I have never got around to visiting any Victorian beaches. How do they compare to those in the Sydney area that I'd be used to? I've been to St. Kilda and Brighton, but there aren't really any waves in that part. Apparently you have to head west, out of the city.

port phillip is about 2-3 hours from Melbourne city. great waves from what l saw. geelong l loved. melb city, I've only seen st kilda & couple beaches nearby to there. definitely out of town id say has the best. maybe melbournians know the good ones. Sydney beaches are beautiful but always so crowded.

l live 5mins from the beach in adelaide. its the only bearable thing about this town

Cable Beach, but only during September, when I went back there in Feb it was just messy.

it's different in all states.

like in Victoria,(state where Melbourne is) you can get your Learners (where you have to have a supervised) driver at 16, and go for your P's (where you can drive by yourself) at the age of 18, but you have to do a LogBook where you have to do and record 120 hours of driving before you can go for your P's.

However, if you are over 21, you just need to do I think 6 months of driving (no logbook of recording hours) before you can go for your P's.

This sounds pretty much like here, but in Alberta you can get your learners at 14, and have a full drivers by the age of 16.

I wonder if this qaulifies for foreigners too, or if I'd have to obtain a drivers license in Canada first.

really?

they make it so hard for us to get ours. and they wouldn't even dare even to consider bringing down the age to get a full license to 16.

I'm not to sure about that one. I don't think so. you'll just need documents and that to actually help get your Learners.

I'm pretty much apolitical these days. Politics in Australia are not very interesting in my opinion. Compared to the somewhere like the States, the differences between the two major parties here are not even that distinguishable.

I don't necessarily like Julia, but I guess she gets the job done. I just don't like the way she speaks.
Tony on the other hand, is a complete laughing stock. I don't think anyone takes him seriously.
