Britney stans, do you know that if Janet never existed, Britney probably wouldn't exist either? People really have NO respect on ATRL
And i don't even like Janet, i just know things they way they are. Yeah, the SuperBowl ended Janet's career but that doesn't mean her 1986-2001 career doesn't count

People need to stop making that analogy cause it doesn't make sense. Yeah Janet was probably her main influence but she had other influences too, not just Janet. Janet's existence has nothing to do with Britney's. Britney isn't based solely on Janet.

It makes perfect sense. If there was no Janet, Britney would be a totally different artist. Go watch the videos for Sometimes, Stronger, Crazy, I'm A Slave 4 U, Boys, Oops, and ...... Hell go watch any of her tours. Then go watch any video from the Velvet Rope/Rhythm Nation. It's so obvious it'll slap you in your face
Janet, through her talent and sexuality, created a unique image that urban and pop acts have been drawing inspiration from for three decades, as well as contributing to bridging the gap between pop and urban music with the sounds of New Jackswing, socially conscious lyrics and peerless performance ability, becoming one of the MAJOR influences in performers of all kinds of music today. In addition, being one of the FEW African-American artists of her time to gain prominence and find major success on the level or exceeding that of her white peers doesn't hurt.
Mariah Carey's sound and vocal style influenced generations of R&B and pop singers for decades, and she was the first pop diva to find huge success with hip-hop incorporated into her music, and set a trend alight.

Quite frankly.
On top of hiring Janet's ex back up dancer for the Onyx Hotel Tour, having Janet's '93 Rolling Stone cover in her VMA Vanguard Tribute, naming Janet as one of her influences at the Whitney Houston special (airing November 16 at 8/7 ct on CBS ), along with a multitude of other things. These Britney stans need to stop. She was only huge with her first three albums, then her career tanked like a roller coaster succumbing to gravity. She's not global like her stans believe she is, only experienced 4 years as a force pop culture, and doesn't have the talent to backup her status. She's already peaked commercially, artistically, and performance wise before she hit 30, and doesn't show signs of being a commerically viable artist well into her 30s and 40s. At 31, Janet was about to release one of the most important albums in female pop, and Mariah had already been named the artist of the decade by Billboard Magazine. At 31, Britney, ironically, is sitting at a table having the gall to judge the talent of others. She doesn't appeal to multiple markets and audiences like Mariah and Janet, her appeal is bigger than her actual talent, and out of all of her peers, Britney is the least talented.

Gworl bye. Britney (the album) has songs that Britney straight up SNATCHED from Janet's All For You.
2001 Britney was really ratchet on copying Janet's looks, videos, music... But I take that as a tribute. It was good while she didn't give up praising J and Madonna took her as a protegé.
